We have an exciting opportunity for a Travel Assistance Coordinator to join our Refugee Support and Restoring Family Links team. In this role you’ll be responsible for coordinating and delivering our Family Reunion Travel Assistance programme, delivering casework to refugees seeking to reunite with their loved ones in the Cardiff area. You will undertake a range of duties designed to develop, maintain, promote the service. The support we provide depend on the needs of our service users, so no two days will be the same.

How you’ll make a difference…

We are a small team all connected by the common goal of helping others. Working as part of our team to deliver casework, advocacy, practical and emotional support to our service user; this role is at the heart is the heart of our team. You’ll work collaboratively with staff at all levels to ensure Service users receive a high quality person-centred and responsive service and they receive the right support for them. You will work with a full age range of asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants including individuals and families to ensure that they are fully supported through their journey. You’ll enables us to best respond and assist these vulnerable people.

  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You can build relationships and adapt your communication style to suit the needs of a diverse group.
  • You are patient and professional. You can communicate with people whose first language is not English to understand their rights and entitlements and advocate on their behalf.
  • You have demonstrable experience delivering casework to vulnerable clients
  • You can provide sensitive, safe and empowering support to distressed people in vulnerable situations
  • You are about our cause – you have an understanding of the rights and entitlements of asylum seekers, migrants and refugees.

Refugee Support provides core services to asylum seekers and refugees, including Orientation, Destitution Support including casework, Family Reunion Integration and Travel Assistance.

The British Red Cross Refugee Support work closely with the refugee sector and wider community partners participating in City Wide forums to promote access to services and support integration.

We will engage with our service users and use their experience and evidence to inform our development and delivery and will seek out opportunities to build productive alliances across the UK, wider movement and beyond to enable delivery on our mission at the earliest opportunity.
