Northwest Ohio CASA

The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the routine operation, overall management, and continued development of the Northwest Ohio CASA program. This includes developing funding sources, representing the program in the community, developing alliances with other agencies within the multicounty network and local Court systems, supervising staff, and overseeing the training of CASA volunteers.

Qualifications:

The Executive Director should have the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following or another closely related fields: Social Work, Psychology, Education, or Law;
  • Experience in fiscal administration/management;
  • Experience working with children and/or families;
  • Leadership abilities;
  • Commitment to the goals and mission of Northwest Ohio CASA;
  • Preference will be given to experience in the following: advanced writing skills, grant writing, fundraising, public relations, volunteer management, public speaking, and familiarity with child abuse and neglect.

Accountability:

The Executive Director is hired by and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The President of the Board of Directors is responsible for his/her annual performance evaluation. 

Responsibilities:

-Directs the activities of the CASA Program

-Establishes annual goals in consultation with the Board of Directors

-Assures compliance with Ohio and National CASA standards

-Maintains appropriate personnel policies, job descriptions, and personnel records

-Recruits, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff that has been approved by the Board

-Verifies payroll records and assures salaries stay within budget

-Volunteer management

-Collaborates with the Volunteer Advocate Coordinators

-Supervises the recruitment, screening, selection, and training of new CASA volunteers

-Assists the Advocate Coordinators in overseeing the Court responsibilities of volunteers, in conjunction with the local Juvenile Court Judges and heads of other Court function agencies

-Handles grievances that may arise between any member of Northwest Ohio CASA and parties of the Juvenile Court system or social service agencies

-Supervises the coordination of volunteer pre-service trainings and in-service trainings

-Oversees the collection of volunteer statistical data and case record keeping

-Oversees the dismissal of volunteers as needed

-Coordinates all administrative duties

-Assists with budget development and biannual budget reviews in consultation with the Treasurer of the Board

-Monitors monthly program costs and keeps expenditures within the approved budget

-Grant writing and fundraising

-Organizes and assists with fundraising activities, projects, and special events across the multicounty area

-Assures adequate and current program literature is available for distribution

-Maintains an active online and social media presence

-Gives community presentations regarding Northwest Ohio CASA

-Develops strong alliances with the local Court systems, child welfare agencies, and other local agencies serving children and families

-Attends all Board meetings and provides a written report to the Board on status of Northwest Ohio CASA

-Assures program membership with Ohio CASA, attends state meetings and maintains active involvement when appropriate

-Assures program membership with National CASA Association, attends regional and national conferences when possible and maintains active involvement where appropriate

-Maintains a high level of professional expertise

-Participates in on-going educational opportunities
