Organizational Context

GCERF is the global fund for preventing violent extremism. GCERF supports grassroots initiatives tackling the drivers of radicalisation in Albania, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Kosovo, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, the Philippines, Somalia, Sri Lanka, and Tunisia.

Purpose of Position

The Event Management Intern will support the External Affairs Unit with organisation of various high-level hybrid, virtual and in-person events, including the Board meetings and the replenishment conference. The position comes amid an exciting international publicity drive intended to fundraise for the organisation that will require strong organisational skills, tact and diplomacy.

Organisational Setting and Reporting Relationships

The Event Management Intern will be accountable to the Head of External Affairs Unit. He/she will also work in close collaboration with other members of the External Affairs Unit, and work in close cooperation with colleagues in GCERF’s Portfolio Management Unit (PMU) and the Performance and Impact team (P&I). At GCERF, PMU oversees in-country operations, and P&I drives research and gathers evidence-based results.

Responsibilities

• Support organisation of external events (virtual and in-person) including invitations, logistics, participant communication, and registration, event database management; on-site event support, virtual platform management, meeting minutes; and post-event products, including analytics and summary reports; • Maintain relationships with service providers (travel agencies, interpreters, caterers, technicians, etc) for events organisation; • Create and update conference files and documents, including assisting with information sharing across GCERF departments; • Assist with the development of specific outreach materials for events; • Support the development of presentations for external meetings in line with GCERF branding and communications guidelines; support drafting preparatory briefings and meeting minutes; • Assist with organisation of the Replenishment Conference planned for autumn 2022 and other high-level events as a part of the Replenishment Campaign; • Assist with organisation of the 17th Governing Board Meeting, planned as a hybrid event in autumn 2022 in Geneva; • Undertake other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Education Undergraduate/graduate university degree in public relations, event management, communications, and digital marketing. A background in International Relations will be considered in conjunction with demonstrated event organisational experience. Languages An excellent level of both English and French is required.

General Internship Duration: 6 months on a full-time basis with an option to extend. A stipend of CHF 2,000 per month is provided.
