Organizational Context and Scope:

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. With 173-member states, a further 8 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. As an important function of its mandate, IOM is the Cluster Lead Agency for Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) for natural disaster-induced displacement situations under the 2005 IASC Humanitarian Reform.

Between CCCM, GBV and other specialized Protection actors; and improving women’s participation in camp governance structures.

Under the overall supervision of the global CCCM Cluster Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator for the GFFO project, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the CCCM team in the implementation of GFFO project activities and supporting in the development of various initiatives related to IOM CCCM globally, including tools, guidance and research.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Provide event planning and management support to trainings and event activities under the GFFO project
  • Provide support to the global CCCM unit on research and communication initiatives
  • Provide review and editorial support for publications and guidance notes
  • Undertake research and activity mapping exercises for the Global CCCM team.
  • Support the Rapid Response Officer in providing remote technical support to IOM Country operations
  • Support in collecting existing cluster coordination tools for review and compilation.
  • Support compilation of content and material for CCCM Cluster-led training throughout all stages (design, planning, and preparation.)
  • Contribute to regular reporting on IOM’s global CCCM activities.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by Global CCCM Cluster coordinator.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • Completed advance university degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in a field of study related to migration or other relevant social sciences;
  • Experience in liaising with representatives from different organizations and coordination
  • Only applications received within 12 months of their date of graduation will be accepted.

  • Proven ability to write clearly and effectively, adapting wording and style to the intended audience and scope of the document,
  • Proven ability to complete editorial and proof-reading tasks,
  • Demonstrates ability to plan and coordinate effectively to meet deadlines and commitments,
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrable interest in CCCM and/or related issues
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly,

Technical:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent) required.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge in French and/or Spanish is an advantage.
