Trócaire works in partnership with local and church organisations, supporting communities in over 20 developing countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East to bring about lasting change. The European Governments Partnership Advisor works within the Global Partnerships and Funding team, which sits within the International Programmes Department. The role has a particular focus on accessing European Governments funding in collaboration with or with the agreement of, the relevant Caritas agency. The post holder will also support accessing funding from a range of non-governmental sources. The post holder will contribute to Trócaire’s overall institutional funding strategy, working closely with country teams and HQ staff to identify, position and pursue funding opportunities for the achievement of Trócaire’s strategic plan, particularly funding of programmes within the three country portfolios: Human Rights, Climate and Gender and Fragile and Conflict affected States. The post holder will ensure Trócaire’s funding submissions meet the highest quality standards. Furthermore the post holder will ensure specific donor grant management, compliance and reporting requirements are understood and adhered to throughout the organisation. The post holder will remain up-to-date on key developments and trends within this portfolio of donors and will identify engagement spaces and engage proactively within these spaces and with relevant Caritas agencies.

Reporting to the Head of Global Partnerships and Funding, this is a Full Time Indefinite contract and is based in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, Ireland. Working remotely will be necessary as per government guidelines on managing the pandemic.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Strategy Development
• Manage and implement Trócaire’s organisational engagement strategy, developing specific engagement strategies for key donors in line with the overall institutional funding strategy and vision and Trócaire’s Strategic Plan.
• Support the implementation of the Institutional Funding strategy and support country and country portfolio groupings, and HQ teams to engage with identified donors, both on development and humanitarian funding streams and assist with country engagement strategies

Donor Intelligence and Engagement
• Keep abreast of the funding landscape and donors’ priorities, funding opportunities and grant requirements and ensure these are disseminated appropriately
• Develop and manage relationships with relevant donors
