Engineer Assistant -Female only (National Position)

Gülümseme ve Zeytin Yardimlaşma ve Dayanişma Derneği (GvZ) is a non-profit, non-governmental civil society organization that has been supporting the most marginalized and desperate Syrians affected by conflict in Syria. Since the beginning, GvZ believes that its role is to create avenues to empower those affected by the conflict by developing their skills and reviving their sense of humanity and dignity. Through its community centers, GvZ provides women, youth, and marginalized groups with a range of various humanitarian services such as relief aid, protection, education programs, and networking with other humanitarian actors on how to advocate for issues deemed essential to highlight. To that end, GvZ strives to continue sharpening the skills of Syrians to partake in the peacebuilding process in Syria and actively advocate for a democracy reflecting a diverse yet socially coherent society.

Engineer Assistant will mainly be working with project coordinator and the Area Manager, and will be responsible of following up in all project documents and activities

Location: Jarabulus – Syria.

Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks:

· Follow up on all project documents (contract – general and special conditions – specifications – bills of quantities – blueprints) and a copy is saved and shared with the project coordinator, the area manager, and the supervising engineer.

· Supervising the implementation of the project’s work on an ongoing basis, to ensure that the implementation of the works is carried out in accordance with the plans, specifications and conditions of the project contract and the technical assets prescribed for the implementation of those works and are recognized and in accordance with the approved time schedule for the progress of the works

· Studying the executive and detailed plans for the various parts of the project, making observations, and proposing appropriate amendments to them and approving Assist in solving on-site problems in consultation with the supervising engineer

· Participate in the inventory and audit of the quantities of materials required for implementation as well as the work that is being carried out on a regular basis and recorded in approved inventory records

· Archiving all papers and correspondence in an orderly manner

· Supervising the filling of the forms used in the project

· Coordinating with the project coordinator for the necessary media coverage of the project

· Inform the project coordinator of any site changes promptly

· Participation in the process of technical receipt of works (initial and final)

· Ensure that safety, prevention, and public health methods are followed in implementation

· Maintaining a permanent record for each of dispatches and invoices for supplies that reach the project, all daily and weekly worksheets – Approving the daily reports prepared by the supervising engineer and submitting them to the direct manager and keeping a copy in the project file

· Monitoring the implementation of the technical contractor and its workers and verifying their efficiency and adequacy to complete the work

· Monitoring the contractor’s equipment on the site and comparing it with the statement submitted by him and verifying its efficiency to complete the work

· Assisting with the activities accompanying the project, including distribution operations

Qualifications and Experience:

· Experience of 2-3 years in field of civil construction and water infrastructure engineering, at least 1-2 years in WASH sector.

· Technical knowledge about emergency response projects

· Working ability with tight deadlines and in a fast growing/changing program environment.

· Team management, training, and capacity building.

· Monitor and evaluate,
