Job Summary

Position Summary

Under direct supervision, the editorial student assistant will be responsible for writing news articles and briefs, and assisting with other marketing projects. The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing and editing skills, work independently, and demonstrate professionalism in working with campus and external sources. Preference will be given to those with a strong writing portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities Of The Position Include

  • Participate in pitch and content planning meetings
  • Assist with interviews with students, faculty, staff, alumni and donors
  • Fact check information
  • Write news articles and briefs
  • Post stories on WordPress content management system
  • Assist with marketing projects

Minimum Qualifications

General Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of AP Style, journalism, marketing, social media or public relations
  • Experience with Google Drive, WordPress, SEO and web analytics a plus

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
