Depuis 2000, Ensemble contre la peine de mort (ECPM) agit pour lutter contre la peine capitale partout dans le monde. L’association encourage l’abolition universelle de la peine de mort par du plaidoyer auprès des pouvoirs publics, le renforcement de la société civile abolitionniste, la création et la diffusion de publications, le soutien aux personnes condamnées à mort.

ECPM unites abolitionists to gain efficiency and accelerate the movement for the universal abolition of capital punishment. The association is behind the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty and the World Congresses Against the Death Penalty, which it organizes every three years (Strasbourg in 2001, Montreal in 2004, Paris in 2007, Geneva in 2010, Madrid in 2013, Oslo in 2016 and Brussels in 2019) in the presence of several thousand abolitionists from all over the world (civil society, political figures and international organizations, journalists, etc.).

The World Congresses Against the Death Penalty aim to strengthen the work of local actors, initiate and develop common strategies in favor of abolition, encourage States to make concrete commitments, raise awareness and mobilize citizens. They bring together on average a thousand people from a hundred countries, a hundred political delegations and are relayed by the international press.

As part of the organization of the 8th World Congress Against the Death Penalty in Berlin (November 2022), ECPM is looking for an assistant to support the development of the academic program.

Mission

Placed under the hierarchical responsibility of the person in charge of the academic program, and in connection with all the services of the association, she/he is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the academic program of the 8th World Congress Against the Death Penalty.

Job description

· Research on the themes identified as well as on potential speakers for the academic program of the Congress.

· Participation in the coordination of the consultation process of the partners in charge of developing the program.

· Drafting of working documents on the nature of the sessions of the academic program (synopsis, information sheet, etc.) or on the course of the speakers (biography, books, articles, reports, etc.) and follow-up of the translations of these documents.

· Participation in the development of the digital version of the academic program on the application of the Congress.

· Management of part of the speakers and part of the organization of the sessions of the academic program.

· Liaison with the rapporteurs of the sessions and the person in charge of the interpreters before and during the Congress.

· Any other administrative task necessary for the preparation of the academic program.

They will carry out their mission in collaboration with the other poles of the Congress team, in particular the communication and logistics poles. She/he will in particular ensure the link with the communication department to relay useful information for the digital tools of the Congress.

She/he may occasionally be called upon to participate in the association’s other projects.

Desired profile

· Master 2 level in human rights or equivalent.

· 3 to 5 years of professional experience (internship included) in the field of human rights. work experience in a non-profit environment is a plus.

· Proven experience in project management.

· Excellent oral and written level in French and English.

· Analytical mind.

· Autonomy, practical sense and excellent organizational skills.

· Interest and/or experience on the subject of the abolition of the death penalty is a plus.

· Team work.

· Experience of working in a multicultural environment.

Formalities

Full-time fixed-term contract. Starting position desired in May 2022 for a period of 7 months.

Position based in Paris, travel to Berlin to be planned.

Remuneration: between 1,800 and 2,000 euros gross monthly depending on experience.

Advantages: restaurant vouchers at €9.25 (60% reimbursement), 50% reimbursement for public transport. 2.5 days off/month (in working days, i.e. 6 weeks/year), 1 day of RTT/month, Mutuelle (50%). Recovery system and individual merit bonuses.
