Oxfam GB

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.

The Role:

The Economic Justice Lead is responsible for the strategic development and technical supervision of Oxfam in Iraq’s Economic Justice programming through technical guidance, support, oversight, strategy development, resources, fundraising, capacity development, and representation. This role will ensure the successful transition of Oxfam programming from humanitarian and emergency aid to recovery and development initiatives. The job holder will collaborate with other technical leads, such as those in the WASH, Gender Justice, and Protection sectors, as well as with Program Managers in the field to design and execute integrated programming and guarantee the quality of the interventions.

Economic Justice Lead will be responsible for ensuring that Oxfam’s Economic Development projects are successful in meeting their objectives and making a lasting impact on those affected by conflict, displacement, and poverty in Iraq.

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam’s mission to end poverty and is personally aligned with our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability, and inclusion in all you do.

An ideal candidate for the role will also have:

  • Qualification in Development, Economics, Agriculture, or any related field. The experience could substitute for a formal qualification, but not vice versa.
  • Previous working experience with international non-profit organizations in development settings.
  • Minimum 5 years in similar positions, including a variety of livelihood interventions, i.e., cash-based assistance, vocational training and business grants, sustainable and resilient livelihoods, value chain revitalization, women’s economic empowerment, market assessments and market-based programming, etc.
  • Experience of working in the humanitarian, development, resilience, and peacebuilding nexus, ideally in conflict and climate-change-affected settings.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking to support the transition of a program from humanitarian to durable solutions and development approaches.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relations with multicultural and diverse teams, including working with partner organizations and government institutions
  • Experience of capacity building of field staff (with or without line management responsibility), including the ability to effectively advise and support field staff using methods such as mentoring, coaching, shadowing, demonstration, accompaniment, training, written advice, verbal advice, research, and development.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills including the ability to document case studies, write guidelines, and develop and communicate standard operating procedures relevant to each context, project and operating environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in the country to support field teams.
  • Attention to detail and critical analysis.
  • Strong English Language skills.
