DRIVER’S ROLE PURPOSE

  • Ensuring the fulfilment of the needs of transportation.
  • Carrying out driving duties and transporting staff as per instructions given by the Logistics Officer in Qaraqosh, within the Governorate and between different Governorates (both Federal Iraq and KRI).
  • Ensuring security of the vehicle and the staff en route.
  • Undertaking routine maintenance of the car mechanic periodically and ensure safety and security procedures.
  • Maintaining full and clear documentation of the vehicle and the duties performed.
  • Supporting AVSI Office with other duties as required.
  • Strictly adhering to AVSI rules, regulations and compliance requirements.

 Vehicle Type:

  • Provide a Modern vehicle (SUV) of the model of 2017 and above, Double Axel (4×4), (7) Seats with Driver. From the origin of the provision of services to transport the staff of the organization and materials for work from and to the office of the organization with unlimited KM driving per month. in addition, the vehicles Odometer should read maximum (80,000) KM.
  • The Driver is responsible to obtain the THIRD‐PARTY INSURANCE for provided, Vehicles and including the Drivers and Passengers.

  Safety Equipment in the Vehicle:

  • Comprehensive first aid kit.
  • Fire extinguisher fixed in the car with expire no less than (6) months.
  • Warning triangle.
  • Rolling seat belts for all seats.
  • Headrests all seats.
  • Padlock for a spare wheel.
  • Radial tires.
  • Lock nuts to each wheel.
  • Rope for towing/pulling.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Driver hired will be responsible of the following:

Driving and Expediting Support

  • Carrying out driving duties as per instruction and only with AVSI personnel and/or authorized persons. Unauthorized persons should not be taken into the vehicle during working duties.
  • Ensuring all passengers wear vehicle safety seat belts before driving the vehicle.
  • Carrying mobile phone always switched on and charge to ensure fast and effective communication.
  • Checking and preparing necessary plans and arrangements for movements (missions, field visits, transport needs, etc.).
  • Supporting with deliveries or collection duties as required.
  • Planning for road routes and completing deliveries according to deadlines.
  • Obeying to road traffic regulations (size and weight, roadways, parking and breaks, speed limits) and the policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Responding to passenger queries regarding routes, timetables, and transportation points.
  • Reporting any incident or violation.
  • Facilitate securing Governmental Approvals on different cases/matters from the Government Offices.  Liaise with the Traffic Police whenever the need arises. 

Documentation and Accidents

  • Ensuring that all vehicle journeys (date, time, kilometrage) are recorded in the car logbook at the start and completion of the movement.
  • Keeping all the Vehicle Documents up to date (Car logbook, car maintenance follow-ups, Car checklist).
  • Maintaining a valid driver license, registration, and valid permits at all times.
  • Record breaks, work and mileage used while driving and keep fuel receipts and receipts received.
  • Reporting immediately to the line manager/safety and security focal point of any accidents accrued and fill the accident report (with possible need to inform traffic police as soon as possible).

 Control, Cleanliness and Visibility of the Vehicle

  • Ensuring maintenance of the vehicle by checking its status on a weekly basis.
  • Alerting the direct supervisor in case of any technical problems.
  • Ensure that car is equipped with safety and security materials, and that safety and security protocol is always followed.
  • Check the vehicle prior to its use in the morning and after use.
  • Check the vehicle before departing from work.
  • Ensuring the vehicle is checked in terms of fuel, water, oil, tyres pressures, and repairs required on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring that the vehicle is always kept clean on the outside and inside and that all rubbish is removed from it after a journey.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Valid driving license.
  • Previous work experience as a driver in local or international NGOs and/or companies.
  • Ability to drive for long hours and travel regularly.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, driving protocol and courtesies, local roads and conditions, defensive driving skills.
  • Skills in minor vehicle repairs.
  • No record of recent violations of traffic laws.
  • Ability to adapt and deal with unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.).
  • Knowledge of English is an advantage
