ISD is recruiting for an interim Director of Project Operations to lead the Project Operations team and oversee the effective delivery of all ISD projects. In this 12-month role, the post holder will serve as the most senior operational oversight on our growing portfolio of global programming (currently 45 live projects), ensuring effective delivery and compliance with all internal and donor policies.

The post holder will collaborate closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Leadership Team to achieve the organisation’s objectives. They will be a self-starter, able to respond to a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a hands-on approach and solutions-oriented attitude. ISD is going through an exciting period of growth and development, and the post holder will be instrumental in driving organisational improvements and operational innovation during the year.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Oversee and sign-off on all ISD’s global projects from an operational perspective
• Ensure delivery all active projects on time, to budget, and in accordance with donor conditions
• Oversee and lead grant management and compliance
• Develop and manage cross-organisational systems and processes
• Report on project performance and finances to Leadership and the Board

Candidates must have the following skills and experience:

• Management of complex, international projects with budgets of £1m+
• Aptitude for managing complex operational environments and processes
• Budget development and management at both the project and organisational level
• Proven record of overseeing compliance and reporting for a range of government, corporate and philanthropic donors
• Strong experience of managing, motivating and leading teams
• Bias to action and significant interest in change management and innovation
