Reporting to the OLX Europe CTO you will be responsible for managing our Real Estate engineering teams. The team is building our Real Estate solutions covering the needs of our customers in the primary and secondary real estate markets.
We operate leading vertical and horizontal real estate classifieds portals in Poland, Ukraine, Romania and Portugal. Our vertical marketplaces run under different local brands but are united by a common technical platform and a shared vision: to democratize the real estate markets where we operate and empower all our users through technology and data to make smart property decisions.
Our real estate brands are widely recognized and as true market-makers, our platforms attract a combined 10+ million homeseekers each month and connect them to 800,000+ listings posted by real estate agents, developers and private individuals.
We are a rapidly growing team of 300+ real estate enthusiasts working in an open culture that encourages own initiatives, growth and entrepreneurial spirit. Our main tech hubs are located in Berlin and Poznan, while sales, marketing, customer service, business intelligence and other commercial roles operate from our in-market locations across Europe. The Real Estate Tech team currently consists of around 70 engineers spanning across our engineering hubs in Europe, as well as fully remote teams.
You will have responsibility to co-lead the product development team together with the Director of Product, form a technology strategy and architecture vision, as well as the day-to-day delivery of your teams, supporting and enhancing the OLX engineering culture, growing the team and it’s capabilities and working with your peers to ensure business success.
You will need to partner closely with peers in Product and Design as well as Data, as we expect to influence our product direction driven by technology trends and innovation. You work closely with other engineering leads and stakeholders supporting the integration of our internal payment and monetisation products. You will be responsible for both large step-change product innovation and continued, high-velocity incremental feature development, helping to deliver value to our customers that they happily pay for in a seamless fashion.
Your experience should include leading a relevant, sizable engineering organization within a hyper growth environment. Strong leadership skills evidenced by an ability to inspire engineering teams by clear communication and technical excellence. You will need to be up to date with current technologies and tools and feel comfortable with making difficult technical decisions to improve major aspects of our solutions and the user experience.

What you will be doing:
- Build and maintain world-class Real Estate solutions (from both the buyer and seller perspective) serving millions of customers
- Be part of a broader Product, Data, and Tech community of 800+ people while leading and inspiring a team of +70 engineers
- Lead by example. We expect you to be hands-on, in the sense of being able to participate in detailed technical discussions and evaluate technical decisions, as well as provide guidance to members of your team.
- Drive the technology strategy making sure modern techniques and technologies are applied properly
- Be actively involved in leading product innovation driven by technology trends
- Take responsibility for the roadmap and deliverables together with product to drive customer value, conversion, adoption, willingness to pay and revenues
- Lead architectural and system design initiatives in a microservice environment
- Consider buy vs. build decisions and manage strategic partnerships with payment providers
- Grow your team both personal and professional and create an environment that enables to attract world class talent
- Define challenging objectives and key results together with the team and monitor and report progress
- Contribute to the wider R&D and technology community within OLX
- Participate in the decision making process and technical assessment of M&A opportunities in RE.
Who we’re looking for:
- Degree in Computer Science
- Extensive experience in a hyper growth environment
- Experience in building and leading engineering teams of +40 engineers
- Vast experience in building scalable products
- Deep understanding in building high-traffic, large-scale internet applications
- Strong technical background and good understanding of current technology trends
- Experience with microservice architectures in a cloud-based environment (AWS, using Kubernetes and Docker or Serverless)
- Good understanding and ideally successful application of AI/ML
- Experience in building an engineering culture in an agile, lean & devops environment
- Good understanding of lean and agile principles (Kanban, Scrum, Lean Startup)
- Deep understanding of product management and how to partner with product, design and user research
- Experience with continuous delivery focussing on fast release cycles while maintaining quality and measuring technical health
- Strong business acumen
- Experience with integrating various payments providers and general ad tech a big plus
- Experience in working in an international environment and leading teams across multiple locations
- Proven track record of hiring, inspiring, and retaining top performing engineers
