Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is looking for a seasoned security professional for the role of Director – Global Safety and Security, who will be responsible for developing and managing comprehensive global security and safety strategies, policies, and procedures to protect and support HFHI’s staff and global operations. This key member of our staff oversees ongoing monitoring and analysis of security risks and related strategies for the mitigation and management of those risks. This position works closely with HFHI global and regional leadership to promote a culture of safety and security and maintains strategic networks and relationships with external agencies, organizations, and security groups to inform and enhance security strategy and protocols for staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders. The position works with the HFHI global operations team to embed safety and security into its programs and supports related efforts to embed safeguarding protocols for the prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment across operations. The position also collaborates with other staff in support of special projects and programs, including HFHI’s enterprise risk management program and management of operational risks relating to COVID-19.

Habitat has operations in more than 70 countries around the world, so experience supporting and/or traveling to developing country locations is essential. In addition, due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate is willing and able to quickly respond to security-related issues 24/7/365.

This position will be remotely based in a country where HFHI operates.

Responsibilities:
* Lead, facilitate, and support effective strategies, and develop and maintain global security policies, procedures, and standards, to mitigate security and related operational risks and protect HFHI personnel, assets, operations, and programs.
* Lead and coordinate ongoing security monitoring and analysis across HFHI operations in collaboration with regional security staff and provide proactive support and recommendations to leadership on strategies for risk mitigation and contingency plans.
* Lead and coordinate the implementation of policies and procedures for managing security risk relating to staff travel and special events.
* Lead and coordinate, in collaboration with regional security staff, training programs, tools, and resources designed to manage risk and promote a culture of safety and security across HFHI’s global operations and country programs.
* Support senior leadership in responding to crisis events and managing crisis communications
* Coordinate the analysis of security issues and related budget requirements for proposed projects and grants.
* Lead and coordinate, in collaboration with regional security staff, the development of security risk assessments and related security protocols for disaster response and recovery projects supported by HFHI.
* Support HFHI’s safeguarding programs and align with its safety and security strategy and protocols.
* Collaborate with other departments, including Legal, Governance Risk Management & Compliance (GRC) and the Global People Team, to implement strategies and procedures to monitor and mitigate enterprise risks relating to security.
* Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies, organizations, and security networks, such as InterAction’s SAG (Security Advisory Group) and OSAC, to enhance security analysis and related strategies.
* Oversee HFHI’s outsourced vendors supporting safety and security.

Requirements:
* Pursuant to current HFHI policy, this position requires full vaccination against COVID-19, except to the extent such requirement is prohibited by applicable law.
* Bachelor’s degree.
* Years of Related Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in security management.
* Minimum 5 years of experience with international non-governmental organization (NGO).
* Extensive international travel in developing country settings.
* Expert knowledge of global security and geo-political trends.
* Strong communications, inter-personal and relationship building skills.
* Effective collaborator and influencer across people, regions, and functions.
* Ability to instill trust and confidence.
* Strategic and solutions-oriented thinker with seasoned judgment and strong analytical and tactical skills.
* Ability to navigate change and cultures in a complex global NGO.
* Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite software proficiency.
* Willing and able to quickly respond to security-related issues 24/7/365.

Preferred:
* Project Management certification (PMP Level 1) or 3-5 years’ project management experience.
* Previous experience working in a conflict/post-conflict or crisis environment.
