Role Purpose:

The role of Digital Media Coordinator is to take responsibility and ownership of Save the Children Philippines’ presence, brand, and engagement on digital media platforms to ensure that the organization is 1) able to reach wider/ target audiences, 2) able to deliver factual, timely, relevant, and factual information on children and their issues, 3) strengthen SCP’s brand and visibility in the digital landscape, 4) create digital conversations and interactions among the public that would drive support to children’s causes, and 5) generate impact that would help define our work for and with children.

Primary tasks include, but are not limited to 1) managing social media accounts, 2) updating and maintaining the organization website, 3) creating and implementing digital media plans and strategies), 4) reporting on the performance of the organization online, 5) creating and curating content on website and digital channels to ensure interactive, two-way conversations between Save the Children and its audiences, while ensuring that responses and postings are accurate and reflect Save the Children’s policies on child safeguarding, information sharing and branding guidelines and standards. This role has cross-departmental functions and deliverables.

The Digital Media Coordinator could also be deployed to field work and/or first phase rapid-onset or slow onset emergencies, on any Save the Children Philippines field offices and impact areas, and/or international assignments, as required.

S/He will be working closely with child safeguarding and child protection colleagues to ensure that all children involved in our ACCM work are protected from potential mental and physical harm, and potential repercussions from their involvement. In most circumstances, the post-holder will also be expected to mentor and/or build the capacity of Save the Children staff, partners, and stakeholders, including children. In this role, the post holder should be able to move projects forward with limited in-country support.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate of AB/ BA Communications/ Development Communications, Journalism/ Broadcasting, Literature, Marketing Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Visual Arts, or any related course;
  • Excellent writing skills (sample works required) and interpersonal communication skills, both in English and Filipino;
  • At least four (4) years experience in related field;
  • Experience with website and social media content management systems;
  • Knowledgeable in front-end development and HTML;
  • Extensive experience with social media management (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN, YouTube and Instagram, etc.)
  • Knowledge of website and social media best practices
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite 5 (Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Computer and Internet literate (able to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Strong understanding of the Philippine social and digital media landscape (online, and in print and broadcast)
  • High level of creativity; with innovative ideas for growing Save the Children’s online brand
  • Politically and culturally sensitive; with qualities of patience, tact, and diplomacy
  • An initiative-taking, proactive, and inspiring attitude; with the ability to manage and prioritize an unpredictable workload and solve problems quickly with limited support
  • A capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children; in particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus, and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
  • Highly organized with good attention to detail and developed ability to prioritize and multi task to meet tight deadlines
  • Willing to travel/ be sent to areas of work for content gathering/ emergency response.
  • Experience working in humanitarian context and in an international Non-government Organization (NGO).
  • Online marketing, and/or website creation management experience.
