Background and general scope

Working closely with the head of Communications in HQ, the successful candidate will take part in the overall management of ERC Ukraine’s public information initiatives and will contribute to the development and editing of field-sourced content for purposes of internal and external communication/reporting. The Communications Officer provides support in accordance with the Programmes’ needs and requirements.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Leads the development and implementation of the Ukraine’s country programmes communication and visibility strategy and plan in line with donor’s communication policies and procedures, with guidance from the Communication team at the HQ.
  • Draft information materials for use in ERC channels and in traditional and online media: press releases, human interest stories, news stories, and Programme publications in English and Ukrainian/Russian.
  • Liaise with the programme teams and spend time “in the field” to gather first-hand accounts and photos for effective storytelling.
  • Oversee the editing of visual and audio-visual content about ERC’s activities in Ukraine.
  • Coordinate with programme team members to help ensure communications and visibility deliverables are met as per donor requirements.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.

Key competencies

  • Higher education degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, International Relations or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of three years professional experience in a similar role, preferably within donor-funded programmes.
  • Experience of working in an international context is considered an advantage.
  • Fluency in written and oral English and Ukrainian/Russian is required.
  • Ability to come up with creative ideas and content for communication and promotional materials.
  • Proactive and flexible, with excellent interpersonal skills for working in a multicultural team environment.
