ICMC is headquartered in located in Geneva, Switzerland. It maintains a liaison office in Washington, DC, and has field and liaison programming in over 40 countries around the world. The organization’s development/fund-raising office (ICMC, Inc.) is located in Boston, Massachusetts, and is incorporated as a 501(c)3 organization in the United States.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Development Officer will contribute to ICMC’s overall fundraising strategy in the United States through the identification and expansion of outreach opportunities to individual donors. This may take the form of direct mail, e-mail marketing, events, and/or small gatherings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate Donor Outreach Programs—35%

· Develop annual direct mail and digital solicitation strategy;

· Drive donor acquisition and regular monthly renewal fund-raising with vendors;

· Write and edit outreach and solicitation materials;

· Work with Development team and ICMC’s partners on donor events;

· Work with Communications team on e-marketing strategies (e.g. Facebook, SEO, Google Ads, etc.); and

· Work with all ICMC operational and advocacy departments and field offices to identify stories and themes to highlight in outreach

Direct Mail Planning and Processing—25%

· Process gifts received in-house;

· Work with vendors to ensure fast, efficient cost-effective donor cultivation and donation processing; and

· Ensure integrity of acknowledgement process

Data Analysis—20%

· Manage data integrity fundraising database— DonorPerfect (DP);

· Leveraging database capacity to fit evolving needs of the team;

· Analyze campaign results;

· Leverage campaign results to inform outreach strategy; and

· Evaluate and prepare monthly revenue reports

Finance & Administration—20%

· Review vendor contracts on an annual basis to identify areas of cost-savings and/or better working relationships;

· Maintain accounts and keep them up-to-date;

· Regularly communicate expenses and revenue to finance team at ICMC Headquarters;

· Prepare materials for monthly reports on income and expenses to be reviewed by ICMC Headquarters and Audit-Finance Committee;

· Support Head of Office to prepare monthly fundraising reports;

· Purchase office supplies and coordinating needs with fundraising team;

· Liaise with facilities staff;

· Serve as frontline of donor communication received via phone, e-mail, post, or office drop-ins;

· Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

· 3-5 years of related fundraising experience;

· Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred;

· Strong interest in humanitarian, migration, and child protection issues;

· Excellent understanding and experience with Direct Mail solicitation;

· Experience in working with donations, gifts processing or accounts receivable;

· Experience using fundraising databases and Microsoft Office Suite (required);

· Outstanding communicator and exceptional writer with strong editing skills;

· Ability to work in a small team and manage multiple projects and deadlines;

· Exceptional leadership and diplomatic skills;

· Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects;

· Strong sense of fundraising ethics and respect for confidentiality of donor information

· Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration within a multicultural environment;

· Understanding of, and commitment to, the mission of ICMC; and

· Basic understanding of, and respect for, the Catholic Church-related values and principles underlying ICMC’s humanitarian and advocacy activities
