JOB PURPOSE:

The position holder is responsible to lead the WFP Food Security project implementation in Borno State. The position holder is expected to supervise all the Field Coordinators on the food security project implementation. The position will also work closely with other projects colleagues, and all the stakeholders in Borno State for effective project implementation. The position holder will provide guidance and support to the Food Security team in Borno State, as well as ensuring proper coordination with the Nutrition and Livelihood projects, other INTERSOS projects, sectors, and other organizations. The position holder is also expected to provide a consistent and high-quality technical support in the project implementation and will assist all the Field Coordinators, and other staff in Borno State to build an efficient work routine that meets the donor and INTERSOS internal expectations. The position holder will be accountable for the WFP General Food Distribution (In-kind & CBT) project activities in the Borno State under direct supervision of Food Security & Livelihood Project Manager. Under the direct supervision of the Protection Coordinator, the PSS/GBV Specialist oversees the technical side of protection activities related to GBV and psychosocial support, carries out the project’s framework, ensuring compliance and operational quality, in collaboration with the Protection Coordinator and the Programme Manager-Multisector.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Line management for the Food Security project staff including Field Coordinators ensuring protection and gender mainstreaming in all project activities;
  • Coordinate, supervise and manage Food Security distributions in line with proposals strategies and donor requirements;
  • Provide primary level information on Food Security Assessments, SCOPE registrations, Targeting and Project Inputs & Outputs as required;
  • Ensure adherence to INTERSOS policies, guidance and procedures at field level by all Food Security Project staff;
  • Shares distribution, redemption, food warehousing and protection activity implementation plans with the FSL Project Manager and donor as required;
  • Provide regular progress reports including PAT to the FS Project Manager and MEAL Manager;
  • Ensure that the project targets the beneficiaries that are most vulnerable and most in need;
  • Participate in the development of relevant Food Security Monitoring, Assessment, Proposal and Appraisal processes;
  • Identify capacity building gaps of project staff and opportunity of knowledge transfer;
  • Presentation of monthly food Security project progress report
  • Shares the daily, weekly & monthly reports in a timely manner with WFP.
  • Conducting above tasks and any other tasks requested by line manager.
  • Implement other tasks as might be required with relation to the INTERSOS Country Program in Nigeria

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • BSc Degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience at national level project implementation position in a humanitarian context;
  • Thorough technical Food Security knowledge of WFP Food Security project;
  • Ability to deliver high quality work within tight deadlines;
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
  • Experience in leadership and problem solving;
  • Fluency in English, Hausa;
  • Experience in working in complex and volatile contexts;
  • Capacity to adapt to basic living conditions;
  • Ability to put up with job pressure;
