The ICRC Regional Delegation in Bangkok seeks to fill the following position:

Deputy Head of Sub-Delegation, based in Chiang Mai

We are looking for a spirited team player with a can-do attitude to join our dynamic team.

The Deputy Head of Sub-Delegation (Deputy HoSD), assists and supports the Head of Sub-Delegation (HoSD) in managing the sub-delegation and implementing ICRC objectives and is in charge of specific topics or programmes depending on the context.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates under the supervision of the Head of Sub-Delegation.
  • Assists and supports the Head of Sub-Delegation in managing the sub-delegation and implementing and follow up of related programs and activities in his/her area of responsibility with some level of autonomy, in accordance with the Sub-delegation’s objectives and guidelines, ensuring a transversal response where appropriate.
  • Contributes to the elaboration of the Sub-delegation’s strategies and objectives and ensures the implementation, in coordination with the Movement, other humanitarian actors and relevant stakeholders
  • Contributes to defining, implementing, and monitoring ICRC projects and activities (depending on the context: general management, protection, assistance, cooperation, communication or others) in coordination with the structure’s management
  • Contributes to representing the ICRC and participates in internal and external meetings and develops and maintains contacts with provincials/regional authorities, local/regional Red Cross/Red Crescent Society branches, humanitarian actors and the population. Participates in field missions, and may carry out them independently, participates in the administrative follow-up of these field missions.
  • Contributes to defining and implementing the sub-delegation’s security rules, in line with the overall security framework established by the delegation.
  • Ensures timely and accurate internal reporting.
  • Manages staff from the departments under supervision.
  • Acts as Head of Sub-Delegation during the latter’s absence.
  • Develops and maintains a network of interlocutors with Military, Police and Provincial Authorities, Public Health, Religion Leaders, and non-State Armed groups relevant to the activities and mandate of the ICRC in order to ensure access and acceptance.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Good understanding of Humanitarian activities and operations
  • Good understanding of Conflict Situation in Myanmar
  • Good understanding of the Thai Public Administration
  • Strong Team leadership / Management skills
  • Fluency in English and Thai
  • 3 – 4 years’ professional experience as a manager or programme officer or background with middle-high governmental official
  • Multi-cultural and diverse staff management experience
