The Opportunity
This is an exciting time at NetHope as the organization builds on strong relationships within the philanthropic community and seeks to generate revenue to deliver innovative programs and services in collaboration with members and partners. The Deputy Director of Partnerships and Philanthropy will play an important role and work with a dynamic and passionate group of colleagues to accomplish this goal.
Deputy Director of Partnerships and Philanthropy
NetHope is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and proven fundraising professional to attract and grow corporate philanthropy for NetHope’s mission. The Deputy Director of Partnerships and Philanthropy will identify and initiate conversations with brands that can help advance NetHope’s mission. Your priority will be to spark new conversations and help to foster connections to lead to committed and engaged partnerships. The Deputy Director will develop and manage strategies that enhance and increase relationships with corporate partners with the purpose of achieving mutually beneficial goals, generating revenue, and goodwill. The Deputy Director manages a portfolio of the NetHope partnership program sponsorships for the NetHope Global Summit, and supports the philanthropic efforts of the organizations in an entrepreneurial, fast-growing fundraising environment.
Specific responsibilities include:
Corporate Partnerships:
- In collaboration with Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer, develop and implement overall partnership strategy, including stewarding and deepening relationships with partners, acquisition strategy of potential brand partners, identifying opportunities for revenue growth and deeper support of NetHope’s mission.
- Strategically drive business opportunities that will lead to long-term partnerships, increased visibility, and impact.
- Explore opportunities to deepen partner engagement by opening employee giving channels, participation in employee resource groups, providing NetHope thought leadership for internal partner channels, events, and communications, and sharing partnership impact stories and metrics.
- Develop strategic plans, partnership pipeline, and fundraising goals in order to create a track record of success for our corporate partnerships.
- Lead aspects of creating and submitting dynamic corporate and donor proposals, including writing, preparation of supporting documentation, pitch decks, contracts, agendas and stewardship materials.
- Work closely with internal team to develop and maintain key partnership materials as well as communications assets to elevate the visibility NetHope to current supporters and prospects and support partner recognition and visibility.
- Responsible for sponsorship for NetHope Global Summit including the full cycle of engagement: cultivating new prospects, securing sponsorships, activating benefits and creating compelling impact reporting. In conjunction with CPPO and Summit team, create sponsorship opportunities and pitch materials that will attract new companies to engage with the event and increase revenue generation to meet sponsorship goals.
- Provide forward-thinking and collaborative leadership with staff and stakeholders across the organization to education and inform partners about emerging community needs and funding opportunities NetHope can offer that align with their charitable interests.
- Ensure corporate fundraising is aligned with NetHope’s fundraising philosophy and complies with internal policies and procedures.
Philanthropy:
- Develop and present compelling presentations and proposals for donors and prospects, coordinate prospect and donor meetings, draft and distribute department agendas and notes, and draft communications on behalf of the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer and other leaders. Support the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer and Senior Leadership Team in donor outreach and stewardship activities.
- Assist in the development of donor prospecting and research, gift reporting and data integrity, track proposal opportunities and support pipeline accountability.
- Oversee moves management tracking and revenue reporting for portfolio and support overall development reporting for the organization.
- Build relationships with external funders through meetings, correspondence, and regular communication.
- Document, track, and manage all prospects through an internal CRM and generate new business status reports, trend analysis, and revenue projections.
- Work collaboratively with NetHope staff to identify specific fundraising needs, create impactful outreach strategies, create donor collateral, and ensure excellent donor stewardship.
- Maintain list of important NetHope contacts, prospects, donors, and partners for invitation to and engagement at high level events and CEO engagement.
- Participate in other philanthropic activities for NetHope as assigned.
Leadership:
- Assist CPPO with departmental planning and the evaluation, assessment, and monitoring of philanthropic strategies and tactics
- Monitor systems and procedures for efficient and effective functioning of the department and foster an environment that encourages growth, collaboration, and culture of philanthropy
- Represent NetHope at external events to develop a strong network of contacts amongst potential donors. Attends workshops, conferences, events, as requested to keep current in the fields of fundraising, digital transformation and tech for good, while discovering opportunities for NetHope’s thought leadership.
- Participate in Management Team, appropriate committees, task forces and other groups that increase knowledge of NetHope, partners, corporate resources, and other areas relevant to the department. Exhibit appropriate leadership and work cooperatively and supportively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop, manage, and gain approval for a budget and workplan area of responsibility.
- Recruit, hire, retain, develop, manage, and evaluate staff and contractors as needed to support NetHope development goals.

Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated experience meeting ambitious annual targets in previous position(s) with a focus in corporate philanthropy or sponsorship.
- Superior writing skills, with ability to quickly synthesize detailed program information and professionally prepare funder-facing materials to include dynamic pitch materials and presentations, fact sheets, concept notes, proposals, donor reports and updates.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders, navigating complex conversations to drive decision-making on corporate philanthropy opportunities.
- Multilingual verbal and written communication skills a plus
Education and Experience
- Nine to twelve years of experience in progressively responsible development leadership positions with a focus and extensive experience in corporate fundraising and sponsorship development; experiencing building successful development programs a plus.
- Proven experience in developing comprehensive corporate fundraising programs from inception to execution and in bringing a fundraising program to the next level with significant growth in funds raised.
- Relevant work experience in corporate philanthropy or sales, employee giving campaigns, sponsorship development; knowledge of international humanitarian and development sectors a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred or equivalent work experience
- NetHope Member experience highly valued, other NGO experience a plus
- Experience with managing budgets and budget forecasting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience with Salesforce, prospect research and project management systems preferred
Reporting and Working Conditions:
- This position is a full-time position that reports to the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer and works closely with development, communications, engagement, and finance teams. The Deputy Director is part of the Management Team.
- NetHope is a virtual organization, so our team, our Members, and our Partners are located around the world. Due to the global nature of the organization, meetings may thus be required at any time of the day to meet with our stakeholders in varying time zones. To meet these needs, NetHope embraces flexible schedules for team members, and we work with each other to be located globally, but still maintain a reasonable work time balance.

- This position is 100% remote and virtual. International or domestic travel may be required for 2-3 NetHope events annually and external events up to 30%.
