Chemonics International, a leading international organization based in Washington, D.C., seeks candidates for the anticipated USAID Liberia Foundational Skills Activity (FSA). The project will work to increase the percentage of Liberian children accessing primary school and meeting government of Liberia learning standards. The position is based in Monrovia. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the COP to provide overall technical leadership and management of the activity, including developing implementation strategies and work plans.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the professional development of technical staff as assigned, and coordinate and monitor technical team tasks for maximum synergy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with governmental agencies, donor/client organizations, private sector actors, and other non-governmental organizations and institutes to enhance quality and effectiveness of program interventions.
  • Assist in the oversight of subcontractors and grantees, ensuring synchronization of work amongst the consortium.
  • Collaborate closely with the monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning team to review, analyze, and evaluate the effectiveness of the program’s technical approaches and recommend improvements to meet project goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of education, public administration, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in education development, preferably at a senior program management level.
  • Management and supervisory experience working with educational reform programs of a similar scope and scale, including experience strategically planning and implementing activities.
  • In-depth knowledge of education systems in Liberia, based on previous experience working in the public sector, private sector, or in a non-governmental organization.
  • Experience working in collaboration with Liberian institutions involved in education systems such the Ministry of Education, Civil Service Agency, or Ministry of Finance.
  • Experience with USAID or other donor-funded tools and methodologies to improve education outcomes preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
