What you’ll do

The Data Management Lead acts as a bridge between the Data Management & Reporting function and business teams across the Group to drive the implementation, embedding, monitoring and support of data management best practices. Working closely with the Head of Data Management and Reporting, the Data Management Lead is responsible for developing and improving processes, services and systems by maturing data management practices across the whole data lifecycle. As a data expert, the immediate focus is to support the activities of the data governance framework, embed data ownership and stewardship, improve data quality and standardise reporting practices.

The role is responsible for analysing operational business processes in order to identify and support delivery of initiatives that leverage the principles of the Data Management & Reporting Strategy to drive business value.

This role is committed to developing a data driven business and to under understanding the significance that data management and reporting best practices play in that ambition.

On a daily basis you’ll be:

· Working with business functions across the Group to drive and implement data management and reporting best practices;

· Identifying new opportunities to use data and reporting to improve efficiency, reduce costs, reduce risk or improve the stakeholder/customer experience.

· Supporting the development and ongoing management of data management governance processes such as the Data Governance Committee, Data Management & Reporting Group and Data Stewards Forum;

· Supporting the commission and delivery of fundamental data management services such as metadata management, cataloguing and data quality;

· Keeping abreast of industry best practices in the field of data management and data visualisation.

· Demonstrable experience of identifying and delivering data management solutions that have provided a tangible positive impact to business processes and/or objectives;

· Highly organised and able to work from own initiative or as part of a team as required, methodical in their approach and process driven;

· Analytically minded, able to work with complex business processes and technologies and see ‘the bigger picture’ to determine where business opportunities exist;

· A record of delivery within a fast-moving, dynamic environment of tight deadlines and competing priorities yet maintaining high-quality outputs with a keen attention to detail;

· Customer-focused and used to providing support to demanding stakeholders;

· Pragmatic and delivery focused;

· Strong verbal and written communication skills (inc. presentations); ability to communicate successfully with all levels of the business;

· Experience of accurately documenting progress in a timely manner;
