General overview

In response to the crisis in Ukraine and in order to provide immediate respite and relief to the people affected by the crisis, Clowns Without Borders (CWB) SE and UK are implementing Project Laughter in partnership with Plan International Germany taking place in Moldova, Poland, Romania, Germany, and potentially Ukraine. For this project, CWB are recruiting Five (5) enumerators (data collection officers – consultants) to conduct Surveys, Focus Group Discussions, some of which will be play-based as they will be implemented with children and adolescents.

Role

  • The Enumerator has the responsibility of collecting data through interviews of community members who benefited from CWB in the communities according to the evaluation questionnaires,
  • He / she is to work with the MEAL /Program team throughout the exercise.

Responsibilities

  • Represent CWB in the field, maintaining high levels of professionalism, ethics, and FUN!
  • Conduct play-based data collection with children and adolescents in the clowns’ intervention locations
  • Strictly respect confidentiality and data protection standards and protocols, sharing information only in compliance with these standards
  • Ensure that your engagement with children and their communities maintains their dignity and protection
  • Comply with all CWB policies and procedures with respect to Code of Conduct, Child safeguarding, among others
  • Perform any other duties that will be assigned by the supervisor.

Before applying, do you have the following skills and qualifications?

  • Degree in Social sciences, research, information management, data analytics, social work, or any related field is preferred
  • Proven previous experience and knowledge in data collection along with different credentials are also accepted – University students in relevant fields are encouraged to apply
  • Experience working in conducting data collection with Ukraine refugees and local vulnerable communities, especially with children, in the intervention countries is an advantage
  • Experience with play-based / child-friendly data collection approaches is a plus
  • Familiarity with use of KOBO and other online survey data collection tools
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Ukranian and/or Russian
  • Excellent inter-personal relations skills
  • Able to communicate effectively and quickly build relationships with respondents
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision

What will give you an edge on this application?

  • Previous experience conducting community-based data collection and/or social research
  • Previous experience facilitating recreational or psychosocial support activities with children and adolescents
  • Being a local to the intervention areas, or a refugee female-identifying or LGBTQI+ candidate
  • Understanding of the dynamics of the conflict and its psychosocial effects on children and their communities

Contract length and remuneration

The chosen candidates will be contracted for a total of 10 days per country of intervention; Four (4) days in Autumn 2022 and six (6) days in Spring 2023.

The proposed remuneration for this assignment ranges between 50 (fifty) and 75 (seventy-five) Euros per day depending on capacities and experience (8-hour working day), in addition to daily transportation and subsistence fees depending on local living costs.

Eight hours of training over two half-days will also be required before the data collection (dates in September to be confirmed), which will be remunerated at 25 Euros per day.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and One (1) consultant will be selected from each of the intervention countries.
