The Opportunity- Cultural and Linguistic Mediator, Bihac based

The role requires the facilitation of communication and understanding, both on a linguistic and cultural level, between beneficiaries and educational institutions, schools’ staff, SCiNWB team and assistance the CPO teams. S/he may be required to liaise with the local authorities, key partner organisations and other stakeholders and agencies relevant to the sector.

The role requires the implementation of the activities and is responsible for the direct performance that will support vulnerable groups of children in learning and developing skills to cross the learning gaps caused by different external challenges. This position will ensure support in learning for refugee, migrant and asylum-seeking boys and girls living in TRCs and outside the transit centres.

Furthermore, the role requires the provision of general support during field activities and other ad-hoc duties as required.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

Essential

* Completion of Secondary School Education (post-Secondary training/certificate in the relevant functional area is a strong asset);
* Minimum two to four years of previous relevant work experience;
* Excellent knowledge (both spoken and written) in Arabic and Bosnian/Croatian/ Serbian
* Good Command of French and English
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, intercultural sensitivity
* Strong teamwork skills
* Strong computer skills, including the use of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and operational use of the keyboard in different languages
* High ability to adapt to flexible working hours, extended field visits, intense and stressful circumstances and a workload
* Helps the team to work effectively by supporting personal relationships;
* Ability to work independently and proactively
* Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and discretion with confidential information
* Commitment to upholding Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy, as well as principles of do no harm and confidentiality.

Desirable

* Training in interpreting or in intercultural mediation
* Knowledge or experience of NGOs / humanitarian work
* Experience in working with forced migrants or other vulnerable populations
* Strong understanding of child protection in emergencies

We offer a competitive package in the context of the sector. Contract length: Until 30.06.2023, including obligatory probation period and the possibility of extension. This role is offered on the basis of national terms and conditions only.
