**Credit Control Operative Location: Paisley (hybrid role working between home and office) Contract type: 12-month fixed term contract Hours per week: 35 Salary: £18,626 per annum

Could you utilise your interpersonal and general credit control skills to help manage the Society’s outstanding debt, ensuring the funds are available to be used by our front line services which support people in crisis?**

We have a great opportunity for an organised and solutions focused finance professional, to join the British Red Cross, Credit Control team based at our Shared Service Centre in Paisley, Scotland.

What you will be doing

As Credit Control Operative, your main focus will be to achieve optimum debt collection performance by utilising your interpersonal and credit control skills.

Working as part of the Credit Control team who are responsible for the collection of the Society’s outstanding debt, you will ensure correct allocation to customer accounts.

Reporting to the Invoiced Income Supervisor, you will manage arrears by telephone and email, reconcile customer accounts, and provide responses and resolutions to any queries in a timely manner.

Liaising with the Accounts Receivable and other finance departments, you will work with operational managers to ensure an efficient and effective service to the Society whilst complying with all statutory regulations.

In this varied and dynamic role, you will also be involved in credit checking and investigating, producing, and analysing debtor reports and the preparation of journals where adjustments are necessary.

The role of Credit Controller sits withi n the Finance Operations Team in the Shared Service Centre. Working across the organisation, the Finance Operations team ensures that our money, and non-financial resources, for example property, project management resources, are effectively managed to ensure our funds are best used on front line service provision, as well as providing oversight of the management of risk and compliance.

What we are looking for

You will have great communication skills (verbally and written) and an excellent telephone manner having previously worked within a customer-focused environment.

You will have proven experience working with a computerised sales ledger and be confident working within a high-volume credit control department.

You will be computer literate having a good working knowledge of Microsoft products including Excel and one or more computer-based accounting systems (knowledge of Agresso Financials would be benef icial)

You will be an effective problem-solver, able to use your initiative to find positive solutions whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy

This vacancy would suit a candidate who has great customer service skills, a sound knowledge of credit control process and a genuine interest in supporting the British Red Cross to continue to support people in crisis.
