Country Director-Tanzania

Stromme Foundation is a rights-based development NGO that works towards a vision of a world free from poverty. Our most important interventions in the fight against poverty are education, economic inclusion/job creation, and a strong civil society. This gives hundreds of thousands of people the opportunity to climb out of poverty, every year.

We are a decentralized organization with offices in West Africa, East Africa, and Asia consisting only of local employees, and we work through local partners in 11 countries. We implement our programs through local partner organizations.

Our Organizational Headquarters is in Kristiansand, Norway, and has a coordinating, capacity-building, and fundraising role. Around 35 staff work in Kristiansand, and a total of 150 staff work for Stromme Foundation worldwide.

We are opening a new country office in Tanzania and are therefore looking for a Country Director to fill this position. As a leader in this role, you see opportunities, think strategically, and work purposefully, while at the same time being able to inspire and motivate your employees. The Country Director must be a Tanzanian national.

Scope of the position.

The Country Director will have the overall responsibility for the development, coordination, and implementation of country programs. The Country Director will play a pioneering role in building up new structures, developing new projects, working with, and identifying new potential partners. The Country Director will be Stromme Foundation’s resident representative in Tanzania.

The position will be on a 4-year contract with the possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s strategies and programs in a professional manner.
• Be responsible for the management of the resources allocated to the Tanzania country office, and ensure that decisions conform to Stromme Foundation’s technical, administrative, and financial policies and procedures.
• Participate in the operational work towards the goals of the country office and the organization.
• Responsible for the overall compliance with the country’s legal and tax requirements
• Be a visible and committed ambassador for Stromme foundation, and represent at national events, including interaction with media.
• Cultivate and manage stakeholder relationships (government, private sector, donors, and others) and represent the Foundation’s views and interests in the country.
• Be a leader who shows trust and motivates the country team and empowers them with capacity building and good leadership.
• Be a part of Stromme Foundation’s global leadership team.
• The position reports to the Secretary-General

Required Qualifications

• Relevant higher education
• At least 7 years of experience from development world
• Good leadership skills
• Management experience
• Understanding of Stromme Foundations development aid approach
• Very good written and oral communication skills in English.

Stromme Foundation ni taasisi isiyo ya kiserekali (NGO) inayozingatia misingi ya maendeleo ya haki, katika kuondoa umaskini duniani. Taasisi ya Stromme imegatua mamlaka katika ofisi zake za kanda za Afrika Magharibi, Afrika Mashariki na Asia. Kanda hizo zina jumla ya ofisi kumi na moja ambazo zimeajiri raia wa nchi hizo. Aidha, taasisi ya Stromme inatekeleza miradi ya maendeleo kwa kushirikiana na taasisi zilizomo ndani ya nchi hizo.

Makao Makuu ya Taasisi ya Stromme yako Kristiansand nchini Norway. Majukumu muhimu ya Makao Makuu ni pamoja na kuratibu shughuli za ofisi zote za taasisi, kujenga uwezo wa washirika wake na kutafuta fedha kwa ajili ya miradi ya maendeleo. Taasisi ina takriban wafanykazi thelethini na tano nchini Norway na jumla ya wafanyakazi mia moja hamsini katika ofisi zake duniani kote.

Taasisi ya Stromme ni taasisi inayothamini haki za binadamu ubora. Aidha, haijiendeshi kibiashara au kwa faida, na inakusudia kuunda utamaduni ambao sote tutaishi na kuhamasika katika misingi ya utu, haki na mshikamano kwa kuzingatia hadhi yetu kama wanadamu.

Taasisi ya Stromme inatarajia kufungua ofisi mpya nchini Tanzania, hivyo inatafuta mtu wa kujaza nafasi ya Mkurugenzi wa Nchi. Atakayechaguliwa kuwa Mkurugenzi anapaswa kuwa na mkakati wa kutekeleza malengo ya taasisi, wakati huo huo anatakiwa kuboresha hali ya wafanyakazi na kuwatia moyo ili waweze kutekeleza majukumu ya taasisi. Mkurugenzi wa nchi lazima awe raia wa Tanzania.

Majukumu ya Mkurugenzi wa Nchi

Mkurugenzi wa Nchi atakuwa na jukumu la jumla kuratibu na kutekeleza programu za maendeleo nchini. Pia atakuwa na jukumu la kuanzisha miundo mipya ya ofisi na kusimamia utekelezaji wake, kuendeleza miradi mipya na kushirikiana na washirika wa maendeleo. Mkurugenzi wa Nchi atakuwa mwakilishi mkazi wa Taasisi ya Stromme nchini Tanzania.

Nafasi hiyo itakuwa na mkataba wa miaka 4 na kutakuwa na uwezekano wa kuhuishwa.

Majukumu ya kazi

• Kuongoza uundaji na utekelezaji wa programu za taasisi kwa kuzingatia taaluma.
• Kuwajibika katika kusimamia rasilimali katika ofisi ya nchi ya Tanzania, na kuthibitisha maamuzi yanayoendana na sera na taratibu za kiufundi, kiutawala na kifedha za Taasisi ya Stromme.
• Kushiriki katika utendaji wenye mwelekeo wa kufikia malengo ya ofisi ya nchi na taasisi.
• Kuzingatia taratibu na sheria za nchi ikiwemo masuala ya kodi.
• Unapaswa kuwa balozi wa Taasisi ya Stromme, atakayeiwakilisha taasisi kwenye majukwaa mbambali ya kitaifa pamoja na kuhudhuria matukio ya kitaifa, na kujitolea katika shughuli za maendeleo zinazohusisha taasisi. Utakuwa Msemaji wa taasisi na kufanya mawasiliano na vyombo vya habari.
• Kukuza na kusimamia mahusiano ya wadau (Serikali, sekta binafsi, wafadhili na wengineo) na kuwakilisha maoni na maslahi ya taasisi nchini.
• Awe kiongozi mwaminifu na atakayeimarisha hali ya wafanyakazi walio chini yake kwa kuwajengea uwezo na kuwapatia mafunzo ya uongozi bora
• Utakuwa ni sehemu ya timu ya kimataifa ya uongozi ya Taasisi ya Stromme
• Utawajibika moja kwa moja kwa Katibu Mkuu wa Taasisi ya Stromme.
