SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THIS POSITION:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • National co-ordination and stakeholders’ dialogue. Ensure engagement at meetings that will foster and promote strategic relationships and expand the visibility of LM International, such as INGO Forums and Government/UN/donor coordination meetings;
  • Strategic Communication and national media relations. To effectively communicate the LM Vision, Mission, Core Values and Programme objectives, both within and outside the Country Office. This includes being the official spokesperson at national level;
  • Protocol and external relations. To establish sound, strategic working relationships and cooperative arrangements with Government Authorities, national and international partners, private companies, innovators, community and faith-based actors, and support organisations, and present the programmes and values of the organisation to the public.
  • Growth and development. Development of new innovative programme initiatives and securing funds through the preparation and submission of funding applications and proposals to both local and international donors;

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excited to work with a faith-based organisation with Christian values.
  • Highly Prefer: Master’s degree or equivalent within any of the areas of development studies, human rights studies, international relations, public administration, and/or in a technical area linked to one of our thematic priorities;
  • Minimum qualification: 10+ years of experience working in INGOs, with experience in strategic planning as well as program and proposal development including senior program management. Experience with water and education will be an added advantage;
  • Familiarity and experience working with SIDA, DANIDA, EU, ECHO, UNICEF, UNHCR, IOM, ECW, FCDO, BMZ, pool funding and the USAID;
  • Previous experience living and working in conflict/transition and/or humanitarian crisis environments, preferably an African country, and proven experience in supervising complex, high-speed, and challenging operations in developing countries;
  • Strong skills in managing a diverse team, including hiring, supervising, and training national personnel;
  • Extensive experience with humanitarian principles, standards and infrastructure, program development, implementation, and comprehensive monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning;
  • Financial management experience, including budgeting, reporting, and procurement;
  • Experience of acting as official spokesperson and to handle national media relations;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French is mandatory; knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not required;
  • Extensive experience in writing and reviewing grant proposals and reports is highly required;
  • High proficiency in computer programs such as Office365 including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and mobile apps.

JOB COMMITMENT:

  • Starting date: As soon as possible.
  • Based in Port Sudan, Sudan, until a time when it is possible to operate safely from Khartoum. Sudan. Travels to field and abroad.
  • Duration of commitment: 2 years fixed term with a 3 months’ probation period and the possibility of extension.
