Coordinator, Trauma Training

International Medical Corps, which has a history of providing healthcare services and training in Ukraine that dates back to 1999, is expanding its activities in the country and the surrounding region in response to the war there.

The situation throughout Ukraine is deteriorating rapidly as the conflict intensifies, prompting a sharp increase in humanitarian needs as access to essential services and supplies are disrupted and more and more people flee their homes. In addition, millions of Ukrainians have fled to neighboring countries, including Moldova, Poland and Romania, increasing pressure on host governments as they work to provide shelter and essential services to the new arrivals.

Our response activities will include operation of mobile medical teams and providing emergency and primary health services, mental health and psychosocial support, gender-based violence services, child protection, nutrition, and water, sanitation and hygiene. If requested, we also are prepared to deploy our Emergency Medical Team and mobile health facility to provide emergency and primary healthcare wherever it is needed.

The position is based in Ukraine and may require in country travel based on security. Hire is contingent on secured funding.

Candidates will be required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, Measles and any other mandatory vaccine requirement (country dependent) prior to deployment. Job Description

Job Summary: The Trauma Training Project Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of the training plan as developed by International Medical Corps (IMC) and Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI).

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Coordinate with IMC and HHI counterparts to understand and implement the training plan
• Work with HR to hire relevant staff including training staff, interpreters, and instructors
• Support and manage the Training and Logistics teams, interpreters, and instructors hired under this project
• Liaise with Directors of Hospitals and Emergency Medical Services to ensure appropriate staff are selected for each training module
• Work with the MEAL team to ensure accurate data collection and indicators are met
• Work with logistics to ensure staff and equipment transportation to relevant sites occur in a timely manner
• Follow up procurement of equipment and supplies and ensure that they are delivered to the training sites in a timely manner
• Work with Country management team and HQ staff as needed to ensure smooth implementation of this project
• Assist the Medical Director and the Grants and Contract Unit with quality donor reports and internal monthly and quarterly reports

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements
• A medical or nursing degree is essential. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• Typically, 8+ years of relevant and progressive experience in trauma care and international programs (preferably developing country or low-resource setting with an NGO)
• Experience in trauma training, mass casualty management and CBRNE courses or the relevant similar experience
• Must be able to travel within Ukraine as per IMC security protocols and follow security guidance
• Experience of working in complex environments.
• Experience in working with and managing remote teams.
• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
• Excellent self-motivation skills
• Experience in effectively dealing with international and headquarters staff, as well as government officials, and other NGOs; the ability to work with a broad spectrum of people.
• Extremely flexible and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
• Ability to relate to and motivate staff effectively.
• Excellent command of English with the ability to read, write, analyze and interpret, technical and non-technical information in the English language.
• Experience with work with procurement teams and proven ability to follow internal and donor compliance procedures and contractual requirements.
