Purpose/objective of the position:

 

Must be a skilled Cook in preparing all types of food, sweets and according to a set menu. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking utensils. Must be able to prepare multiple dishes at the same time and have good multi-tasking skills. performing other tasks and responsibilities assigned by line manager.

 

The consultants’ main role will be to identify and train girls and women (about 60 beneficiaries in total including women and girls (so approximately 10 persons per one month and 15 days) in the shelter of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. The training would serve the beneficiaries to develop competencies in cooking and sweets practical advises, it will give them skills to be integrated in apprenticeships or jobs in the cook and schiff with the skills and qualifications necessary to assist professional and may link them later on to open their own business or be an attractive candidate in future.

 

BACKGROUND: The rationale behind this consultancy is to train beneficiaries (Refugees, IDPs and host community) to provide them with practices which could support them in finding jobs and creating in demands skills. There will be a division between each group (8 to 10 persons maximum per group).

The aim of this assignment is to improve the overall practice level of the beneficiaries in order to promote the development of a learning environment with necessary cook practices for job insertion for girls and women in particular in those areas of business.

Generic Duties:

  • Venue preparation to prepare cooking sessions for use on a daily basis (chopping, peeling vegetables and cutting meat).
  • Must be experienced using various utensils, grillers, stoves and ovens.
  • Prepare a good presentation of food served.
  • Responsible for keeping the kitchen clean and sanitized at all times.
  • Ensure all food including perishable items are stored properly.
  • Must be able to do daily grocery runs to maintain stock of fresh food and ingredients.
  • Experienced in cooking meals for up to10 people on a per week basis with based on the needs provided by Line manager.
  • Willing to prepare an additional meal, snacks or sweets to raise level of beneficiaries’ experience.
  • Complete other activities as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Preparation of documents during training sessions (attendance sheet, pre- post test, …. etc.)

Specific Duties:

  • Proven experience as cook in hotels or restaurants.
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Experience in preparing western and eastern dishes and salads.
  • Must have a high standard for keeping work space clean and hygienic
  • Possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a self-starter and internally driven to success and hard work.
  • Possesses strong cross-cultural communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be a humble team player.
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

Person Specification:

     Education and professional experience:

  • High school diploma or relevant field is a plus.
  • Previous experience (minimum one year) in similar position with International, national organizations and government authorities or companies.
