About The Role

The WSP Advisory business is at the front-end of our Planning and Advisory Strategic Business Unit, and has a collaborative working network across the UK business and with other WSP Advisory teams globally.

We work with clients across the full range of infrastructure and real estate sectors. We differentiate ourselves from our competitors by embedding net zero into our day to day working practices, with a focus on continued improvement and maturity in how we take forward Net Zero at a holistic systems and strategy level right through to a granular data and evidence based approach. This alongside our commitment to halving the carbon in our design and advice, and our expertise in combining commercial, financial, technical, and operational expertise in order to create more value for our clients in a sustainable and innovative way.

We are involved from a net zero planning and strategy perspective, whilst also supporting at a level which required an understanding of the whole life carbon quantification and how to apply in practice. To support innovative low carbon project origination through to completion as well as facilitating low carbon asset optimisation and modernisation of existing facilities, including digital and social value benefits.

A Typical Week Would Include

  • Project delivery in a client-facing role to ensure best practice plus efficient and successful delivery across your project portfolio – and generating repeat business as a direct result
  • Work with clients providing advice on how to include carbon into business Cases, determine carbon benchmarking and setting up the methodology to determine whole life carbon assessment, setting organizational Net Zero roadmaps
  • Support our P&A Net Zero Steering Group activities. This is a senior-level group, and is leading the delivery of our commitment to halve the carbon footprint arising from our designs and advice by 2030
  • Support our net zero innovation programme, focusing on working with clients, academia, government, and funders to deliver a strong innovation programme.
  • Actively support our ambitious growth plan for the Advisory team
  • Promote collaboration, sharing of information and best practice on net zero across the different WSP’s teams
  • Identify needs for net zero training and supporting material and collaborate with different teams to create this
  • Support our external profile-raising via engagement in events, conferences and in developing client-focussed thought leadership themes
  • Play a hands-on role in the delivery of major prospects and bids
  • Build relationships with key clients and develop wider networks with clients and other advisors

We’d Love To Hear From You If You Have

You would be a member of our Advisory team, reporting to the Senior Leadership Team. You would be expected to play a significant role in supporting the Strategic Advisory team as they develop as part of our UK Advisory growth strategy – which aims to build diversified high profile, high return workload at the front end of project lifecycles to increase our market share, client portfolio and sustainable profitability.

The initial requirement is to support our Net Zero Strategic Advisory theme, achieving accelerated growth of our market-facing capability in the UK and globally. Our Net Zero Strategic Advisory objectives are to build a market-leading multi-sector capability with the credibility and confidence to access market opportunities at all levels of our existing and target client base.

Your personal objective would be to support both developing and connecting with our existing expertise, and to enhance that expertise through project delivery and related investment in innovation and R&D.
