The Global Immigration team sits within EY’s IMT People Advisory Services practice and is the largest single brand provider of immigration services, managing a range of business immigration services for multinational clients wishing to send their employees to work overseas.

EY’s Immigration team is a high-pace, client service focused environment. Team members enjoy extensive contact with corporate clients, assignees and EY contacts at all levels within the organisation globally.

We are seeking a Global Immigration Consultant to join our busy Global Engagement Management team, based in London (flexible working).

This varied role will predominantly be to assist our Consular services team deliver document and visa support, in addition to supporting our Global team with key activities on some Global Immigration programme accounts.

Your Responsibilities As a Consultant

Consultants are responsible for providing guidance and assistance to individuals with obtaining the required immigration documentation from within the UK.

Consultants should demonstrate ability to work independently and proactively communicate with senior members of the team, ensuring timely delivery and review of key work products/activities. They should be able to autonomously manage difficult client relationships, knowing when to raise issues with leadership.

They must also be able to display a deep understanding of client requirements and priorities, therefore being able to anticipate client needs and challenges within the Mobility services.

It is important that they can effectively balance the different demands to meet client deadlines, whilst simultaneously maintaining a high standard of work.

Key responsibilities include:

Clients

  • Supporting the Consular team with the day-to-day service delivery for internal and global immigration engagements – including, but not limited to:
  • Overseeing all aspects of the Visa immigration and Consular services ensuring that the process runs smoothly
  • Providing guidance and assisting clients with completion of paperwork
  • Managing visa applications to ensure all information provided by the client is correct and accurate
  • Overseeing the completion of all relevant visa and immigration documents and ensure they meet the requirements set by the authorities
  • Preparing fee quotes and any information required by clients, colleagues and/or authorities
  • Working with strict timelines and communication with the client and authorities
  • Keeping up to date with changes in immigration processes and requirements
  • All aspects of engagement economics and billing
  • Governance and reporting
  • Supporting Global Engagement Managers with the day-to-day service delivery for global immigration engagements – including, but not limited to:
    • Supporting with deliverables such as reporting and billing
    • Supporting the Engagement Manager prepare for client meeting
    • Contributing to client strategic projects, such as corporate restructure planning or onboarding new countries to the programme
    • Develop relationships and work closely with Engagement Coordination team in India
    • First review of communications drafted by Engagement Coordination team in India and Consular Assistant Consultants
    • Prepare and draft materials and communications for senior members of the practice to present to the client
    • Supports execution of projects, initiatives and process improvements where applicable
    • Gather and analyse required information from client and external knowledge sources in order to prepare suitable conclusions and recommendations as instructed by more senior members of the team

    People

    • Contribute towards the attainment of engagement goals and develop an understanding of individual responsibilities within the team and be open to receiving and providing feedback at all times.
    • Follow a continuing program of development in technical immigration and related areas as well as management skills consistent with the firm’s professional development requirements.
    • Support and participate in practice-wide people initiatives.

    Quality & Risk

    • Demonstrate the awareness of EY risk management policies and procedures and support engagement administration.
    • Understand and support Engagement Manager with on-boarding new clients in line with EY’s robust risk process.
    • Ensure all time bookings are accurately and timely and achieve chargeable hour’s target.

    Markets

    • Support client pursuits as required, to include fee gathering and first benchmarking review
    • Undertake research to stay informed of market activity for select accounts and sectors.
    • Contribute towards account planning.
    • Support the management of key client relationships and build and strengthen own network within the firm and externally with individual clients.
    • Build effective relationships with other EY team members, individuals in other departments, client peers and immigration community.

    Skills And Experience Required For The Consultant Role

    • Demonstrate an awareness of basic immigration or mobility processes.
    • Have an experience in consular procedures.
    • Experience working as an enthusiastic member of the team and delegation skills.
    • Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills including ability to manage multiple assignments and work under pressure.
    • Strong IT skills, including very good MsOffice (Word, Excel and Power Point), BIT and local visa preparation software.
    • Excellent level of attention to detail.
    • Good commercial awareness.
    • Good presentation skills.
