The Gender Diversity Inclusion Team and the Global People Team have the need for a transparent, equitable performance management system (process, tools, platform, etc.) that allows Mercy Corps to comprehensively understand, track, invest in, and deploy talent globally. The task is to review and redesign the current Global Performance Management philosophy and processes to be able to advance this critical workstream.

Purpose / Project Description:

In this role you will facilitate, research, and support the review of the global performance management system within Mercy Corps that impacts many different workforce populations. You will conduct organizational research studies involving quantitative and qualitative methods such as action research and focus groups. You will use your expertise in research, consultancy, and adaptive management to improve our current performance management system and processes and that would impact positively employee experience and performance by testing hypotheses and influencing the design of processes, programs and policies based on robust, replicable results. You will work with cross-functional teams to dive deep into the detail of where we stand at the organizational level and what is needed to put in place and change. Using this knowledge, you will develop the new performance management process and project manage the system implementation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead project manager of Mercy Corps’ equitable performance management priority, specifically facilitating the first phase of this effort as outlined by the People Team.
  • Lead and support the development of innovative strategies (assessments, performance-based simulations, behavior change interventions etc.) in all phases of content development, design, and implementation for a new performance management processes and systems for Mercy Corps Global team.
  • Consult with leaders, teams and the global cross departmental group, and facilitating feedback, dialogue, people development, and strategic sessions based on findings.
  • Expediting design and development for curriculum of training on performance management, process consulting and facilitation of such training.
  • Partner with internal and external technology teams for solution execution to help Mercy corps to implement a new future performance management system.
  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, and collaboration across multiple stakeholder groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in applied qualitative and quantitative research practices on performance management
  • Masters in Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, or related field
  • Systems psychodynamic experience
  • Organizational processes and systems
  • Experience working with cross-functional global teams
  • Proven skills in experimental research design Experience working with remote projects and remote staff
  • English fluency required, other language (Spanish, French, Arabic…) strongly appreciated
  • Strong quantitative analytical abilities

Timeframe / Schedule:

  • This is a one year consultancy
