Norwegian Refugee Council

NRC is looking for a Consortium Manager to join the Bangladesh mission. The role holder will lead the Consortium Coordination Unit (the secretariat servicing the Consortium). This position is responsible for strategic advice on the management and direction of the consortium programme, the operational management and implementation of the project(s), and the inputs from consortium members. The Consortium Manager will facilitate the strategic development of the consortium programme; be responsible for forging strong relationships with and between consortium members, donor(s), and other relevant stakeholders; and ensuring compliance with donor contractual requirements, and Consortium internal procedures.

If you are diplomatic and collaborative leader; with great interpersonal skills; good negotiation and communication skills; and works well with others under pressure this is the role for you!

What You Will Do

  • Strategic Direction and advice to the Consortium.
  • Programmatic and Financial performance of the Consortium.
  • Fundraising initiatives.
  • Advocacy and Communication material production and dissemination.
  • Compliance with donor’s strategy, requirements and expectations.
  • Consortium Coordination Unit management.

What You Will Bring

  • Senior Project Management and/or Coordination experience, in a humanitarian/conflict/recovery context.
  • Consortium or Partnerships experience.
  • Project Cycle Management exposure.
  • Grants Management involvement.
  • Advocacy and Communications experience.
  • English fluency, both written and verbal.

What Makes This Position Attractive?

  • The opportunity to work in the steadily growing NRC mission of Bangladesh that has scaled up since inception in 2018 to respond to the Rohingya influx, and that has an increasingly growing portfolio and funding. NRC interventions are used to increase the acceptance of humanitarian assistance amongst Rohingya and Bangladeshi populations.
  • As of 2022, NRC is also working to respond to severe floods in Sylhet. Bangladesh is one of the world’s most disaster-prone countries while also hosting nearly 1 million Rohingya refugees. This is considered a protracted emergency in which displacement and recurrent climate disasters combined.
  • The Norwegian Refugee Council, the International Rescue Committee, the Danish Refugee Council, and Handicap International recently submitted a joint proposal in consortium to the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations to strengthen the protection mechanisms available to Rohingya refugees and most vulnerable host communities in Bangladesh, and deliver more effective and timely multi-sector humanitarian assistance.
  • The Consortium Coordination Unit (the secretariat servicing the Consortium) ensures impactful and efficient programming. It unites the members of the consortium, facilitating learning and sharing between members to ensure efficiencies and increased impact; and it performs a grants’ management role for the consortium (collating and disseminating narrative and financial information relating to the work of the consortium).
  • Meaningful work that advocates for the rights of people forced to flee, and responds to the diverse needs, priorities, and concerns raised by such beneficiary communities. The current context is set against a backdrop of continued conflict in Rakhine State, steady attenuation of humanitarian access, and political pressure to repatriate refugees. This is characterised by multiple localised emergencies adversely affecting communities and populations with low levels of resilience, high vulnerability, and acute poverty.
  • Female candidates are strongly encouraged to join our work culture that empowers every employee to share ideas and take responsibility.

What We Offer

  • Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh duty station.
  • 12-months contract duration.
  • 40% travel, approximately.
  • Grade 9 in NRC’s Salary Scale. NRC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • NRC is an equal opportunities employer. In the selection of our staff, we are committed to diversity without distinction to age, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, and physical ability.
  • We think outside the box, encourage ideas, and give responsibility to all employees at all levels. You will have many opportunities to be heard and take the initiative.
