Introduction to the country office:
NCA has had a presence in Iraq intermittently since 2003. Most recently, NCA re-opened its country office in North Iraq in 2014 in response to the crisis resulting from the invasion by the IS.
NCA Iraq is implementing a Peace building and gender-based violence (GBV) program designed to facilitate the recovery and reintegration of survivors into their communities and challenge the cultural norms that perpetuate GBV. NCA also works in peace building.
NCA implements its GBV programs in (Alqosh, Bashiqa, Sinjar Town, Sinjar Mountain, Sinuni, TelKaif/Musol Hatra and Baaj)
Information about the position: NCA in Locking for a GBV community outreach worker to implement activities and support the enhancement/ expansion of the women safe spaces in Ninawa governorate (Hatra and Surrounding villages).
Information about the contract: Service Contract/Full-time 7 months (February 2022 to 31 August 2022) with possibility of extension.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Community Outreach at Hatra:
- Offering awareness on various GBV topics, coordinate with unit staff (case workers, psychologists).
- Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of vulnerable women and girls at risk.
- Developing and facilitating relationships between relevant community stakeholders to manage the implementation of projects within Hatra and surround.
- Organizing community meetings and events, as necessary.
- Distributing informational material to community to describe what, where, and when program services are available for survivors.
Support to the psychosocial support unit at Hatra:
- Participating in the planning and implementation of GBV activities in the Psychosocial Support Unit in Hatra under the supervision of the GBV Officer.
- Facilitating all qualitative assessments (Focus Groups Discussions) to better understand the risks of GBV, to map points of service for CRSV survivors and to identify support structures. If required.
- Prepare monthly individual work plan and submit to GBV Officer.
- Submit monthly report to GBV Officer.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by GBV Officer from time to time.
Support Case Management:
- Assisting in scheduling appointments for survivors at the Psychosocial Support Unit, when required.
- Establish and maintain contact with survivors’ families where applicable.
- Develop individual action plans based on the identified needs of each survivor.
- Provide community-based case management and basic emotional support to survivors.
- Refer and link cases to Psychosocial Support unit, or to other relevant actors, coordinate with GBV Officer.
- OTHER DUTIES / FUNCTIONS ASSIGNED TO THE POSITION:
Community Outreach Worker Position requires travel/ coordination and staying in the disputed area and or Duhok/Ninawa.
- REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERRED SKILLS.
- University degree in Sociology, Psychology, social work and/or at least one year relevant area work experience.
- Preferably from Project Operational area.
- Written & verbal proficiency in Arabic and Kurdish language.
- Good understanding of the local context especially of the IDP/ Returnees situations in Iraq.
- Understanding of humanitarian Response, especially protection concepts & approaches.
- Good interpersonal skills, good communication, organizational & analytical skills & ability to work well in a team.
- Familiarity of monitoring & evaluation tools & documents is preferable.
- Ability to travel independently, including to rural communities and work long hours in project operational area.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
