Islamic Relief

Rationale:

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a humanitarian and development organization based in Birmingham, United Kingdom and has been working in more than 40 countries, providing humanitarian aid and working for long-term development of world’s poorest people.

With the support from IR-USA, IRW implemented the STRIDE II program wherein the Philippines Office was selected as one of its areas of implementation. The Program aims to enhance humanitarian programming among different field offices of IRW and improve its localization strategies and practice.

IRW shares the view that changes are required within the humanitarian system, and our own organization. The INGO endorsed and committed to the ‘Charter for Change’ which commits us to review and adapt our way of working to ensure that we increase direct funding to local partner NGOs, increase transparency, and ensure that we support – not undermine – local capacity through our interventions.

One of the targets of the project is to develop a knowledge project, a video, which will show the perspectives of the Socio Pastoral Action Center Foundation of Daet Inc. (SPACFI) as the main narrative— their history in doing humanitarian response and the challenges they face being community-based organizations, wanting to do more and help more but with limitations in resources. The initiatives and gains brought by the STRIDE 1 and the actual partnership with IRW-Philippines demonstrated during the Typhoon Rolly response will be showcased- but mainly from SPACFI’s perspective.
