Job Overview/Summary

The mission of the Talent Management team is to take the IRC’s people to the next level. The team is responsible for improving the productivity of IRC staff by providing tools, processes, and guidance for effective performance management, onboarding and orientation, staff and leadership development, and quality individual and team learning.

As the Communications & Learning Specialist, you will partner with subject matter experts both within and external to the Talent Management Team to plan and execute dynamic and effective communications and learning pieces. The first two critical initiatives you will focus on are employee data and diversity & inclusion. In support of global systems and infrastructure, our staff must understand the importance of employee data, and our people managers and HR focal points must understand the process and their critical roles in maintaining employee data. Meanwhile, the IRC’s Gender, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI) Unit is producing strong content on DEI topics which now must be delivered to employees around the world via quality communications and learning pieces. Future focus areas will include manager basics, new employee onboarding content, and much more. Regardless of the topic, you will strategize, scope, design and deliver a variety of communications and learning pieces in partnership with subject matter experts.

Major Responsibilities

Communications

  • Conduct review of existing communications content and approaches for specific project areas, identifying gaps and opportunities.
  • Draft new or updated communications pieces, including blog posts, intranet content, emails, one-pagers, explainer videos, etc.
  • Think outside-the-box to find new ways of reaching staff around the world with key information.
  • Serve as focal point for maintaining learning-related information on RescueNet, the IRC’s intranet.

Learning Design

  • Partner with learning program focal points to identify opportunities of augmenting existing courses and programs with bite-sized learning.
  • Scope, design and deliver microlearning pieces, including short explainer videos, infographics, brief interactive eLearning modules, concise learning assignments, etc.
  • Work with the LMS Administrator to deliver content via Kaya, the IRC’s learning management system.
  • Think outside-the-box to find new ways of delivering high-impact learning to staff around the world.

Project Management

  • Create and maintain project and stakeholder plans to ensure timely delivery.
  • Put in place a strong mechanism for collaborating with and receiving feedback from subject matter experts throughout the process of learning and communications design.
  • Develop or adapt mechanisms for gathering feedback from learners.
  • Work with translation focal point to convert communications and learning pieces into French, Arabic, Spanish and other languages as needed.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years in learning design and/or communications.
  • Passionate about employee learning, growth and development.
  • Experience breaking complex topics into effective communications and learning pieces.
  • Experience designing explainer videos and interactive eLearning using tools such as Articulate 360, Vyond, or similar.
  • Experience producing a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact within a multi-cultural environment and with all levels of the organization.
  • Fluent in English. Fluency in another language is a plus, especially French, Arabic or Spanish.
