Communications & Development Lead

  • Location: remote work
  • Accountable to: Director
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Remuneration: 1500€-2000€/month (base pay)

Role purpose

To improve the communication of the organisation’s mission and programmes for higher brand awareness and recognition, as well as to develop and execute a fundraising and marketing plan.

Responsibilities

As Communications and Development Lead, you’ll drive the organisation’s efforts in relation to fundraising, marketing and communications. This involves:

  • Ensuring that the communications and marketing activities support the organisation’s fundraising purposes and are efficient and effective.
  • Thinking strategically, planning and executing the fundraising, marketing and communications initiatives of the organisation, ultimately raising funds that support the growth and impact of the organisation.
  • Creating management dashboards, processes and collateral that support the execution of the communications and marketing activities for fundraising purposes.
  • Conceptualising and producing or assisting in the production of compelling narratives and audiovisual materials that showcase the mission and impact of the organisation and generate new partnerships, donations, and/or media engagements.
  • Identifying, contacting and fostering positive and meaningful relationships with new and existing partners, donors, and media.
  • Collaborating in identifying, writing and submitting grant applications.
  • Mobilising, inspiring, training and working alongside paid and voluntary members of the organisation to elevate and leverage the organisation’s impact
  • Making the “Sustainability & Development” and “Communications & Marketing” departments of the organisation stand out as productive and efficient departments at the organisation.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in communications, marketing and/or fundraising.
  • High level of proficiency in spoken and written English. Desirable: fluent in Portuguese.
  • Proven experience in setting and achieving fundraising goals.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute a marketing and/or communications plan.
  • Knowledgeable about digital marketing and engagement through social media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and can-do attitude.
  • Comfortable working remotely and with cloud-based software.
  • Passionate about promoting fair and quality science education.
  • Excited to work with a vibrant and growing non-profit organisation.
