The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) serves and protects uprooted people, refugees, internally displaced persons and migrants, regardless of faith, race, ethnicity or nationality (www.icmc.net).

Since 2012, ICMC Europe has implemented and developed the Share Network ( https://www.share-network.eu) , an inclusive network of communities and actors engaged in the welcoming and inclusion of newcomers, migrants and refugees in Europe. The Share network implements EU and privately funded programmes in the area of complementary and rural integration and carries out EU advocacy with a variety of stakeholders such as civil society organisations, national governments, international organisations, faith-based organisation, universities, refugee-led organisations and European institutions.

ICMC Europe is currently recruiting a Communication and Events Intern under a temporary contract (September 2022 -end May 2023). This internship position is well-suited for someone with a keen interest in website communication, network building and a knowledge of and interest in refugees, migration and integration. ICMC Europe particularly welcomes applications from those with a refugee or migrant background.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY AREAS OF ACTIVITY

  • Develop and update relevant content for the SHARE website; drafting, editing, selecting pictures and publishing SHARE Integration website content (articles on refugee issues and project activities, presentation/summaries of new resources etc.) on the subject of complementary pathways, refugee integration and refugee and migration policy issues– in close cooperation with the SHARE project management team;
  • Support the production of articles and SHARE newsletter in December 2022 based on table of content developed by ICMC.
  • Manage SHARE web and conference tools , including translations and support note taking.
  • Monitor web traffic, support social media presence (Twitter) and update the ICMC Europe Mailchimp data base.
  • Liaising with ICMC HQ and coordinate communication input from ICMC Europe
  • Support the organisation of Share events and conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES

The successful applicant will:

  • Demonstrate excellent writing skills in English
  • Relevant (post graduate) studies in communication and /or migration and asylum.
  • Possess strong computer skills including word processing, and website software;
  • Be a good team player, well-organised, able to work in a small office environment and capable of working independently on assigned tasks;
  • Demonstrate proven interest in the work of ICMC Europe /Share Networkand enthusiasm for working within a European NGO environment.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience of working with contact databases and website CMS / Squarespace
  • Fluency in other EU languages (such as French, German, Italian, Greek, Polish) ;
  • Familiarity with design packages.

CONDITIONS

  • Renumerated Internship position under Professional Immersion Contract[1] with a compensation between EUR 1.000- 1.200 per month, according to experience/skills.
  • The position is based in Brussels. A flexible office presence (60 %) and home-based/online working will be offered – policy to be reassessed during 2022.
  • Applicants must be a national of an EU Member State, or have confirmed permission to work in the EU.
