About TDA

The Day After (TDA) is a Syrian non-profit organization that is working to countering authoritarianism and support democratic transition in Syria. It adopts the values of human rights in accordance with international conventions and covenants.

OUR VISION

Syrians’ rights, peace, stability, and prosperity can only be achieved through a process of democratic transition and a comprehensive national program for transitional justice that lays the foundation for justice and reconciliation. TDA also believes that local communities and civil society organizations are key actors to bring about resilience, recovery, and democracy for Syria.

OUR GOALS

TDA identifies the following as goals that should guide the efforts of political transition:

  • Supporting civil initiatives locally inside Syria and supplying them with knowledge in the areas of justice, human rights, and the political transition from an authoritarian regime to a democratic one.
  • Supporting justice and accountability efforts by supporting victims of human rights violations in Syria, especially victims of arbitrary arrest, enforced disappearance and displacement, monitoring patterns of violations, and raising awareness of relevant actors and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the efforts of the political transition from its position in the Syrian civil society in line with its values and objectives.
  • Coordinating the efforts of Syrian civil society in the areas of transitional justice and engaging in the formulation of a political transition.

Job Purpose:

Enhance TDA’s media presence and stakeholder engagement through the creation, coordination, and dissemination of compelling content across various media platforms, and leading effective advocacy activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute communications and advocacy plans for TDA’s work.
  • Leads TDA’s advocacy activities including webinars, conferences, and meetings with stakeholders.
  • Generate, edit, schedule, and publish daily content on TDA’s website and social media outlets.
  • Support the identification and framing of compelling information from TDA’s reports and research to be shared with stakeholders in various formats (social media cards, brochures, briefs, infographics, etc.).
  • Assist in building and maintaining strong and active relationships with local, national, and international media to increase TDA’s profile in Syria and internationally.
  • Leads the production and dissemination of periodic e-newsletters and relevant web materials.
  • Prepare quarterly reports on the statistics and insights of TDA’s social media and website.
  • Monitor news relating to the transition in Syria and media coverage of TDA’s work.
  • Contribute to the development of M&E and progress reports.
  • Maintain and update a database of TDA contacts.

Academic Qualifications:

Relevant academic degree in the fields of journalism, communications, political science, media, international relations, human rights, or a related field.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Prior experience creating original content for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and manage social media content across multiple platforms.
  • Good understanding of the Syrian context and conflict
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Skills:

  • Effective prioritization and organization of tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.
  • Experience in graphic and video design is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, while also being a collaborative team player.
