GOAL

General Description of the Programme:

GOAL has been working in Syria since 2013, responding to the acute needs of conflict-affected communities. GOAL is working in Idleb Governate, both through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, and provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) through support to Water units, as well as emergency support to recently displaced households.

Job purpose:

The Communications Officer will work with a team of several field staff to ensure that community needs, and concerns are being incorporated into the project, to verify information provided from other sources and communicate programs implementation strategy to all stakeholders (for example: Local Councils, Camp mangers, beneficiaries,). He/she will also lead on understanding the needs of target households and assist in designing and then implementing the most suitable interventions in collaboration with the Programs Managers (Food Security, NFI, Bakeries, Shelter and WASH).

Duties, objectives and competencies

Key Responsibilities

Project Implementation

  • With assistance from the Field Programs Coordinator and his deputy, and in conjunction with Program managers develop suitable assessments to collect information from communities as required.
  • Liaise with communities and local authorities to identify vulnerable members of the community and assist with the functionality of any subsidy support initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate feedback mechanisms for stakeholders (Local councils, Camps Mangers, and households).
  • With assistance from the Field Deputy Programs Coordinator, develop suitable assessments to collect information from communities as required.
  • Work alongside MEAL team to better understand the needs of targeted communities through organising meeting with key stakeholders in the field
  • As required meet with communities during assessments or implementation of GOAL – programs.
  • Other tasks as required relating to community relations as determined by the Field Programs Coordinator/ Deputy Field Programs Coordinator.
  • He will be responsible of the in and out notifications and coordination of the meetings with the LCs.
  • He will be responsible of write and archiving meetings minutes, in and out notifications and any program documents
  • In coordination with the Area Coordinator and the Deputy Field Programs Coordinator, Communication officer should prepare warning letters and guarantee their delivery to the concerned stakeholders based on GOAL standard operating procedures.

Requirements (essential)

  • University degree level qualification in public relations, Business administration, or any other related study field or equivalent years of experience in the same field.
  • Previous 1 years and more experience in communication. Liaison or networking.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Previous 1 year experience of working on development programs.
  • Attend courses or workshops in the communication.
  • Has Archiving experience.

Requirements) desired)

  • Previous NGO experience in humanitarian work
  • Good Turkish speaking and written skills.
  • Knowledge of working on Power BI
  • Previous experience in Liaison
