Do you have a strong commercial management background and interested in working on one of the largest retail transformation projects in the world?

You’ll work within the Technology team at a time when we are undertaking a massive transformation programme (Asda need to build our own IT Systems, as all of our current IT systems are supported by Walmart). You’ll work closely with the CIO, Finance and Technology Leadership team to ensure all activity is done in line with our process and manage a robust financial planning and reporting process.

Your Role

You will be responsible for managing the commercial health of Technology acting as a key interface with our Finance team for reporting and budget management activity. With a team of 4 directs reports you will

  • Own the Technology budget to ensure we manage our costs against our annual plan
  • Managing the monthly forecasting process (both short and long term) to ensure actuals are in line with forecast and we have ‘no suprises’
  • Ensure we comply with ASDA financial process around funding requests, order creation, people changes, etc
  • Work with our project management community to report and challenge project costs across c150 concurrent projects
  • Work with our people team to ensure we effectively manage our people plan (number and cost of people) on a monthly and annual basis
  • Manage our cost transformation target to drive costs savings within Technology
  • Ensure reporting is effective to provide clear insight into historical spend and trend analysis to predict future spend against our annual plan
  • Work with our PMO and commercial managers to support both are underlying projects and new activity

About You

  • Strong numerical & Analytical Skills
  • Strong skills and experience of managing large budgets
  • Functional expertise – related planning and financial experience
  • Strong organisational skills with a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
