Background:

Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent international solidarity Organisation working in situations of poverty, exclusion, conflict and disaster. HI works alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable people to meet their essential needs and improve their living conditions and undertakes to promote their dignity and fundamental rights.

Objectives of training:

General objective of the training is enhancing the skills of the different practitioners in the sector of psychosocial support working alongside persons with disabilities and their families with a main focus on the acquirement of new intervention techniques based on the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy model.

The training will be provided in two different level modalities, the first modality being a preparatory level for the intermediate-advanced level that will focus on the cognitive restructuration and the recovery-oriented cognitive therapy.

    • Conducting CBT sessions, The therapeutic relationship
    • Values and aspirations
    • Typical day and setting goals
    • Structuring sessions and interrupting clients
  • Cognitive conceptualization
    • Overview of concept conceptualization
    • Cognitive model variations
    • Automatic thoughts
    • Core beliefs, assumptions and coping strategies
    • Cognitive conceptualization diagrams (CCD)
    • CCD in treatment plan
  • Responding to unhelpful cognitions
    • Identifying automatic thoughts and distinguishing cognitions from emotions
    • Identifying core beliefs
    • Identifying coping strategies
    • Cognitive distortions
    • Socratic questioning
    • Behavioral experiments and other techniques to test cognitions
    • Evaluating maladaptive core beliefs
    • Responding to cognitions
    • Avoiding the evaluation of cognitive distortions

Content of the training

  • Definitions and concepts in CBT
  • Application and research in CBT Structure of sessions, therapeutic relationship, setting objectives with beneficiary.
  • Cognitive conceptualization
  • Cognitive conceptualization and the intervention plan
  • Cognitive and behavioral techniques:
    • Behavioral activation
    • Problem management
    • Relaxation technique
    • Caregiver support approach

Expected results:

The participants will be able to:

  • Understand definition and core concepts
  • Elaborate a cognitive conceptualization and an intervention plan
  • Identify appropriate and effective techniques for each individual case of the beneficiaries
  • Provide intervention plan in reference to cognitive-behavioral technique, in occurrence the behavioral activation, problem management, relaxation technique and caregiver support
  • Optimize their individual action plan
  • Optimize their therapeutic skills
  • Enroll in the next phase of advanced training in CBT
  • Receive a certificate of completion of training with beginners to intermediate level
  • Be able to provide a training of trainee with beginners to intermediate level

Expected Deliverables:

  • Training material. (including clinical, client and exercise sheets)
  • Assessment and relevant clinical forms
  • Training evaluation: general assessment of trainees, capacities and understanding
  • Pre/post-tests (to be arranged by the trainers)
  • Results of pre and post-test, recommendation for further knowledge and skills development

Candidate / trainer profile:

  • Psychology background or related field.
  • Certified CBT trainer with either a master in CBT or from an international certified training institute (preferably Beck institute)
  • Arabic language is must, English is a plus
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience in CBT with at least 200 hours of clinical supervision.

  • Training Dates: before end of march 2023.
  • Language: Arabic/ English
  • Duration: 6 Days.
  • Venue: Amman – Jordan.

Training target:

  • Profile and background: Psychology – Psychological counseling with psychology or related university bachelor level. Number of participants: 2 TO HI Jordan mission staff, 15 PSS workers (with a psychology background) Service provider with partnership with HI. Total participants are 16.
