Client Service & Investment Intern

• Currently pursuing a university degree in business, economics, engineering, analytics, or related areas with expected graduation by December 2024
• Knowledge of Excel; competent in other common MS Office programs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with others
• Fluent in English

What You’ll Do

You will conduct analyses and develop analytic tools to support and inform our regional leadership on the progress and impact of current and potential client investment activities.

In this role, you will assess of the evolution of our competitive positioning and relative strategic distance regarding different segments of competitors. These may include mapping our relative competitive success across industries, geographies and service lines as well as identifying and characterizing key ‘battlegrounds’ (e.g., the combinations of industry, service line, geography were we most frequently encounter a competitor).

You will investigate the potential underlying causes for eventual differences in competitive success or competitive intensity. You will maintain and investigate a database in which information about the major companies in the region is kept for the purposes of prioritizing of client development efforts. You will identify the nature of McKinsey’s relationship with different segments of potential clients (e.g., clients of different size, as measured by revenues; or ownership, i.e., whether a client is part of a local business conglomerate or major multinational).

Lastly, you will support your team in analyses of the performance and health of the region’s portfolio of at-risk and invested engagements. You will measure conversion rates on investments approved by our committees, particularly conversion into longer-term, transformative programs, and help the team prepare and revise documents for weekly and monthly calls with the leadership and the finance team.

This is a 1-year, part-time (up to 30 hours) internship opportunity.

Who You’ll Work With

You will join McKinsey’s Sao Paulo office as a member of our Latin America (LatAm) Client Investment and Client Service teams.

These teams are part of the global client investment and client service communities with which we interact frequently to exchange knowledge and best practices. You will report directly to the regional leaders of these departments, who are among the most senior consultants of McKinsey’s LatAm governance structure. You will also interact frequently with our LatAm finance, communications, and sector & functional practices to coordinate implementation and eventual adjustments in the course of ongoing initiatives.
