For our operations in Ramallah, Nablus/Palestinian territories, we are looking for an
Civil Peace Service (CPS) Advisor (m/f/d) for psychosocial support and mental wellbeing in the context of conflict
Assignment period:12/01/2022 – 12/31/2024

Field of activity
The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a programme for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. In the Palestinian Territories the CPS contributes to the strengthening of civil society organisation and the defragmentation of Palestinian society. The CPS programme: “Organisational Development and Psychosocial Support” supports partner organisations in the systematic integration of psychosocial approaches to mental wellbeing in their projects in the Gaza strip and in the Westbank including East Jerusalem. The young partner organisation “Sustainable Change for Development (SCD)” in Nablus raises awareness for the benefits of psychosocial support for the wellbeing of the communities under constant stress caused by the multiple forms of violence in the context of the Palestinian Territories. SCD chose a particular focus on staff- and self-care for social workers.

Your tasks
- Advise the partner in planning and monitoring of the project activities in tandem with the local peace expert
- Advise the partner in the respective fields of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) and communication
- Support the development of future content in the field of psychosocial support through various means
- Evaluate and document the outcomes and results of the project in a process-oriented manner
- Support the preparations of follow-up measures including drafting a project proposal in cooperation with the local peace expert and the management of the organisation
- Take part in all meetings, supervisions and tasks which are relevant to the project and the development of the organisation
- Take part in and contribute to all relevant CPS team meetings and activities
- Report actively to the CPS coordinator and the team on developments at the workplace and in the respective field of expertise and contribute to the CPS knowledge management

Your profile
- Bachelor or master’s degree in social sciences, social work, psychology and/or in related fields
- Several years of professional experience in a field relevant to the task e.g., counselling, supervision or systemic coaching experience
- Theoretical and/or practical knowledge in the field of MHPSS in the context of conflict
- Experience in the field of social participation and communication is an asset
- Very good communication and coordination skills, preferably project management skills
- High cultural/contextual and gender sensitivity especially for the middle eastern region and its conflicts
- Stress resilient with a high tolerance for frustration
- Fluent in English; Arabic skills are an important asset
