Role & Responsibilities

The Christian Communities and Marketing officer will develop Medair’s presence within German-speaking Christian communities and be active in the Marketing team by supporting mass/middle account owners, website and social media marketing activities with campaigns development and execution.

This role is within the Engagement Department and will actively contribute to achieve the overall objectives of raising awareness and generating private funding.

Project Overview

Medair Global Support Office (GSO) provides operational guidance for country programs, along with both technical and compassionate support for our relief workers.

Within our Global Support Office and affiliate offices, the Engagement Department is responsible for connecting people who can give, go, and pray in support of Medair’s programmes. We are responsible for promoting the work of Medair to the world, to raise the funds needed to run our life-saving and sustaining programs, and to help recruitment of international and GSO staff through adequate marketing and communication. The marketing and communications teams design and deliver the messaging that helps communities reach their target audiences.

Within the Engagement team the Christian Communities and Marketing officer will develop and execute strategies and creative initiatives to raise Medair awareness and attract new Christian communities’ supporters and develop a strong network of supporters (donors and ambassadors) across German speaking Switzerland, whilst contributing to the optimal donor thank you process for all communities globally. This role will also include monitoring of social media, regular tracking and data analysis of the International, Swiss-French and Swiss-german audiences to identify (comparable) trends. Familiarity with social media marketing and its data analysis tracking and management are essential for this role.

Key Activity Areas

Christian communities in German-speaking Switzerland

  • In collaboration with the broader Engagement team, develop and execute new initiatives and campaigns to increase brand visibility and build engaging experience to grow the donor database among Christian audiences, with a particular focus on German-speaking Switzerland.
  • Focussing on people that have an above average alignment with Medair’s vision and mission to inspire and equip them to work alongside us: influencing, campaigning, giving, praying, working, volunteering and innovating.
  • Project management: create, develop and implement fundraising projects and campaigns within these audiences. Develop and strengthen Medair’s presence in the Christian community through talks, collects, relationships building (including partners & sponsors), events and campaigns.

Digital Marketing support

  • Responsible for monitoring Social Media channels and tracking tools management (i.e. hootsuite…).
  • Supporting with website and tracking tools management (i.e. Google analytics…).
  • Identify and track social media trends to better understand target audiences and provide recommendations on which content works better for engaging, informing and motivating.
  • Daily monitoring of key social media channels comments (and replies).
  • Regular tracking of different social media channels dynamics.
  • Analyse Social Media data across different languages to identify comparable trends.
  • Develop recommendations regarding which content engages, informs and motivates best the different audiences across channels and languages. Liaise with team mates responsible for website to ensure Social Media channels dynamics/trends complete the online donor journey.

Donor Thank You process

  • Work in close collaboration with Marketing team and CRM team to facilitate an efficient and timely donor thank you process for all communities globally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant field (i.e. Marketing, Communication, Business management, International Relations, Political Sciences).
  • Fluent English and German (spoken and written), French would be a plus.

Experience

  • 1-2 years of private or public sector experience in a relevant field in Switzerland.
  • Experience in mobilising Christian and/or Church communities.
  • Professional experience in account management, fundraising, communication, customer relationships, marketing or sales, event management, planning & implementing of campaigns desirable.
  • Advanced user of MS Office. CRM software knowledge, wordpress desirable.
  • Website, Social Media & its tracking tools management knowledge (i.e. Google analytics, hootsuite…).
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. Networking skills.
  • Sense for inspiring communication and current trends.
  • Strong link and interest with Christian communities (Protestants, Evangelicals, Catholics).
  • Close to the market, ability to identify potential of audiences. Goal and performance oriented.
  • People oriented, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to think critically and analytically while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent listening skills to fully understand requirements and opportunity areas.
  • Project management, multitasking skills. Attention to detail, quick learner.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines. Pioneer and self-driven. Collaborative team player.
