Job description

Still I Rise, an international NGO, works towards development and the realisation of humanitarian projects aiming at providing education and support to refugee children and youth, is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to coordinate and lead the Operations Department. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing operational strategies, overseeing and coordinating operations, promoting organisational culture and vision to ensure shared priorities and organisational short, mid- and long-term objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working in partnership with the CEO to create the strategic five-year plan
  • Coordinate and support all directors and translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organisation-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning
  • Communicate results to the CEO, and other constituencies
  • Interconnect goals from departments, teams, and individual contributors by deploying an OKR strategy.
  • Supervise all departments strategies and operations
  • Enforce and implement a SIR’s standards and policies

Coordination:

  • Work closely with the leadership team to create, implement and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems and organisation policies all designed to foster growth, profitably and efficiencies within Still I Rise
  • Develop, implement and manage the operational aspect of the annual budget in collaboration with the CEO and Directors

Monitoring:

  • Monitor and supervise internal reports by creating effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal activities
  • Supervise of org-wide risk assessment
  • Use data-backed OKRs that combine aspirational, qualitative objectives with quantifiable success measurements.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or closely related field which provides knowledge of the principles, practices and administration of business and nonprofits.
  • 4+ years of work experience directly involved with operations, business, development, finance or related areas.
  • Strong employment and/or service history that reflects leadership and managing high level operations and motivating complex teams while holding them accountable.
  • Strong analytical abilities, solid decision making skills, logical interpretations, and to review and interpret financial statements and budgets.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated professional and effective working relationship.
  • Strong skill set in prioritising, strategizing, meeting deadlines and following up on assignments and roles and responsibilities with minimum supervision.
  • Reporting skills, detail-orientation, excellent organisational skills.
  • Decisive, accountable and creative person, able to work well under pressure and in a challenging, ever-changing environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the non-profit and development sectors; related governmental agencies and community development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, human potential and service.
  • Fluent knowledge of the English language written and oral
  • Italian is a plus.
