Job Summary: Direct and coordinate KCI’s development and fundraising programs. This includes responsibility for programs and events designed to enhance charitable giving.Oversee and provide stewardship for all development programs and events.Responsible for fostering and strengthening Karmanos Cancer Institute and Karmanos Cancer Hospital relationships with internal and external constituents.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, oversight, coordination, and cost-effective day-to-day operations of development and fundraising.
- Ensure that philanthropy and fund development are carried out in keeping with the organization’s values, mission, vision, and plans.
- Direct and oversee KCI’s key development priorities include a capital campaign, major gifts, corporate relations, planned giving, special events and annual fund.
- Cultivate, solicit, and provide stewardship for a portfolio of major gift prospects and provide leadership to major gift officers and other development managers.
- Provide oversight and develop new initiatives representing the Karmanos Cancer Institute and the President’s office on community-based committees and initiatives, business and industry organizations and academic task forces, and facilitate internal and external communication.
Qualifications
- Must be highly motivated to succeed, goal-oriented and able to inspire confidence and foster teamwork, ultimately strengthening, and integrating programs and services.
- P roven leadership skills, with significant experience interfacing with corporate boards and professional staffs.
- B achelor degree required, Master degree preferred.
- Experience in overseeing organizational-wide development and fundraising activities.
- Demonstrated experience in cultivating and soliciting major gifts as well as experience in fiscal management, budget development and strategic planning.
- Experience in public relations and community advocacy.
- Proven track record of progressive accomplishments leading a substantial foundation relations program in a complex organization.
- Experience in an academic medical center and/or research university highly desirable.
- M ust have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to recruit and work with top-level corporate and community leaders and to lead and motivate staff teams.
- Possess demonstrable skills in cultivating, soliciting and closing major gifts and in working with volunteers.
- Strong computer skills desired.
