Welthungerhilfe’s Head Office is in Bonn, Germany whilst the Syria Response is managed from our Country Office in Gaziantep. Welthungerhilfe was established in Turkey in 2013 specifically to help people who are affected by the Syria Crisis. Since then, the organisation has expanded its program scope and scale to make the greatest possible contribution to meeting humanitarian needs in Turkey and North West Syria. Welthungerhilfe has field offices in Azaz and Afrin, as well as Ankara, Istanbul, Hatay and Mardin. The Syria Response program includes food security, WASH services, Shelter and NFI services, protection, early recovery and livelihood.

Case Management Officer*

in Azaz

The position is to be filled by September 11, 2022, with a contract duration of 1 year. Sevice location will be Azaz, Syria. The position is paid according to SG6 [[paygrade]].

Reporting directly to Project Officer (Protection) and Head of Project based in Gaziantep, the CMO supervises three Case Management Workers and is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of case management activities through proper utilization of direct information provision, facilitative support, referral pathways and Individual Protection Assistance and Special Needs Funds for protection outcomes.

Your responsibilities

• Supervise protection risk analysis, participatory action planning, implementation and follow-ups carried out by case management workers as part of the traditional 6-step case management program according to WHH’s internal Case Management SOPs. • Lead and supervise the mobile protection desk to connect vulnerable individuals to the appropriate service providers through referrals and direct assistance for protection outcomes. • Provide capacity building training and coaching to the case management workers on the case management tools and ensure they are applied appropriately and as per the relevant SOPs and guidelines. • Ensure that the integrated service mapping updated regularly and coordinate with the actors working the same areas of operation to strengthen the referral pathways • Act as the focal point to receive/send referrals • Ensure that all clients are registered in protection database through regular verification of case management records • Lead case discussion meetings conducted with case management workers regularly • Analyse regularly case management and referral system findings, and use the finding in improving the case management approach and feeding the program design • Ensure proper documentation of case data and information in line with the in, adhering to the confidentiality, safety and do no harm principles. Ensure to abide by all information-sharing protocols in place • In coordination with case management workers, draft and share regular reports with Project Officer (Protection) and Head of Project on contextual developments, security situation, protection trends, and concerns of the affected population. • Through relationships with affected population and network of stakeholders and community-based structures stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment. • Report all incidents in the field to the Project Officer (Protection) promptly. • Work closely with other members of the mobile protection desk and non-protection staff to ensure additional needs are identified, addressed and followed up holistically and in an integrated manner • Guide case management workers on dissemination of key protection messages, and works closely with outreach workers on development and dissemination of IEC materials on rights, available services, and other relevant topics • Monitor the identified cases report that requires special assistance and ensure alignment to the case management SoP. • Lead the mobile protection desk to connect vulnerable individuals to the appropriate service providers through referrals and direct cash assistance for protection enhancement purposes. • Map the age, gender, and disability-sensitive risks, threats, vulnerabilities with regular monitoring of wellbeing and negative coping strategies and report this mapping to the Project Officer (Protection) on regular basis. • Undertaking other project tasks as required. • The CMO is expected to lead and support all efforts toward accountability to affected population, specifically to the clients and to Welthungerhilfe’s Policies Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). • The CMO must ensure all interventions adhere to Welthungerhilfe’s’ Gender Policy, Do No Harm principles, and AAP standards. • Uphold and promote Welthungerhilfe’s commitment to ensuring the safeguarding and safety of the vulnerable communities we serve. • Behaving in mutual respect to other team members as part of work friendly environment.

Your profile

• Position open to Syrian nationals only • Education: University degree preferred, in Human Rights, Social Work, Social Science, or other clearly related disciplines.* • Work Experience: Minimum three to four years professional experience in a similar position, specifically protection, community services, social work, and human rights, preferably in a non-profit organization* • Skills/knowledge: – Experience in direct delivery of case management activities and IPA and SNF modalities.* – Experience in conducting protection risk assessments and focus group discussions* – Experience in capacity building trainings on the case management approach.* – Experience in conducting conflict-sensitve interviews, assessments * – Experience in using mobile data collection tools, and/or other smartphone applications* – Excellent written and spoken Arabic.* – Previous experience in Protection activities* – Experience working in insecure and remote locations and reporting to remotely located management – Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,* – Ability to summarize disparate information in a clear and concise manner. – Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. – Being able to travel. – Proven analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills. – Excellent use of MS Office products including Word and Excel.* – Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, stressful environment.* • Social Skills; – Ability to work in a team • Language Skills: – Fluency in Arabic is required.* – Working knowledge of English is advantageous. • Familiarity with Local Context: Candidates who have work experience and knowledge of the local context in A’zaz and/or Afrin are preferred.

The CMO will be obliged to maintain confidentiality regarding all information obtained in the course of his/her work during the employment at Welthungerhilfe and thereafter.
