Overview: DT Global is currently partnered with Proximity International to implement Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities in Conflict (BRICC). The program aims to advance the BRICC Resilience Objective (RO) of fostering resilience and stability in conflict- affected communities across Syria to prevent the re-emergence of extremist groups such as ISIS; countering the influence of malign actors such as Iran; empowering communities to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the conflict; and paving the way for safe, dignified, and voluntary return of internally displaced persons and refugees.

The Capacity Building Officer will work closely with the Syria Livelihoods Program (SLP) Capacity Building Manager based in Amman, Jordan to develop and implement the project’s capacity building activities. The Capacity Building Officer will identify needs for capacity building activities and organize, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of these activities. This role will report to the Capacity Building Manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the identification of needs for capacity building activities through conducting training needs assessment, data collection, and analysis
  • Ensure and support the proper implementation of capacity building activities on the ground
  • Organize and coordinate capacity building activities (e.g. training programs, workshops) including orientation meetings with selected service providers, etc.
  • Coordinate and organize the delivery of the capacity building activities (e.g. orientation training, active participation in coordination meetings, etc.)
  • Coordinate between service providers to support design and delivery of capacity building actions (experts, trainers, training institutions, etc.)
  • Monitor and review progress in the implementation of capacity building activities, including design of evaluation form, quality checks, field visits, conduct evaluations with beneficiaries, participate in capacity-building activities, etc.
  • Maintain an archive of key documents and keep records concerning capacity building activities for reporting purposes
  • Facilitate smooth communication and cooperation between the SLP project, local government, civil society organizations, and the private sector
  • Work with the field coordinators and grant officers to ensure that vocational training activities are implemented as planned and high quality
  • Play a facilitation role to the project stakeholders in order to develop Local Economic Development plan (LED) with the support of external experts
  • Support all capacity building activities in the field in coordination with the technical staff and/or the Capacity Building Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Capacity Building Manager

Education and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of experience working on a donor funded development project
  • Experience with activity design, monitoring and implementation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent community mobilizer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience working on a USAID project
