Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research (MER) Lead

Position Grad: Coordinator

Position Overview: The Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research (MER) Lead will be responsible for leading and managing consultancy opportunities with humanitarian and development agencies. This role demands a strong background in the contexts in the MENA region with a recommended understanding of the Syrian context. The MER Lead will play a pivotal role in strategizing, executing, and overseeing various research, monitoring, evaluation, and assessment initiatives aimed at addressing developmental and humanitarian challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategy Development and Business Expansion:

    • Develop and manage the firm’s MER portfolio, contributing strategic input to shaping innovative research methodologies targeting hard-to-reach populations.
    • Standardize existing processes, enhancing and improving methodologies.
    • Lead the design of research-informed strategic communication strategies.
    • Identify and pursue opportunities to secure additional assignments with new and existing clients.
  2. Project and Research Cycle Management:

    • Oversee all stages of projects, including design, implementation, analysis, and reporting.
    • Manage quantitative and qualitative research projects, ensuring alignment with expectations and deadlines.
    • Contribute across the research lifecycle, from methodology design to data collection oversight, analysis, and reporting.
  3. Staff Management and Capacity Building:

    • Provide line management for junior and senior research staff, conducting capacity building and fostering a growth-oriented environment.
    • Leading and supporting field teams, offering coaching and development opportunities for analysts and data collectors.
    • Supervise logistics management for both local and remote teams, ensuring efficient operations.
  4. External Engagement:

    • Represent the firm in client interactions and external engagements.
    • Forge and maintain relationships with stakeholders, fostering partnerships and collaborations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Development Studies, Social Sciences, Monitoring & Evaluation, etc.).
  • At least five years of demonstrated experience in research, monitoring, and evaluation roles within the humanitarian or development sector, with a focus on the Syrian context; familiarity with other MENA and/or Eastern Europe contexts is highly advantageous.
  • Proven track record in leading and managing complex projects, including designing methodologies, conducting fieldwork, and delivering high-quality reports.
  • Extensive expertise in Cross-Cutting issues and robust technical proficiency across diverse sectors is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills with experience in team management, capacity building, and remote team supervision.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Requirements:

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken), and Arabic is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools/software.
  • Strong writing and reporting skills
  • Ability to work remotely and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
