Purpose

We need a capable and enthusiastic Business Intelligence Assistant to support the Business Intelligence team within the Marketing and Business Development Department.

The role will be closely involved in key aspects of the Business Intelligence team’s operations and central projects. It will involve reporting on various aspects of client financial and non-financial data as well as, external research and client profiles. Involvement in other central Business Development and Strategy Projects as required.

The role will report to the Business Intelligence Specialist (based in Louisville) and Senior Business Intelligence Adviser (based in London).

Client Financial Reporting

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • A key aspect of the role will be to produce financial reports on a client, practice group, regional and sector level at regular intervals as well as on an ad-hoc basis. In support the firm’s strategic planning process and internal reporting requirements.
  • Production of individual client financial reports on an ad-hoc basis, upon request.
  • Contribute to and support on a variety of complex business intelligence projects as needed, spanning an array of data sources and types.
  • Contribute to the articulation and creation of standard reports for stakeholder groups in Excel and Power BI.

Client Profiles And Research

  • Conduct research relating to the firm’s clients, competitors and the broader market utilizing desktop tools, e.g., the Internet, licensed research tools and databases and other intelligence sources.
  • Assist with ad-hoc research related requests as needed.
  • Prepare standard template research output, e.g., client dossiers and event briefings.
  • Analyze client and market data to provide information that will help steer pitches, pursuits, and client targeting initiatives.
  • Work closely with other teams within the firm and external suppliers to support the Business Intelligence team’s research profiles and projects.
  • Prepare client- and market-focused industry newsletters on a weekly basis for consumption by sector leadership and partners. This involves coordinating content with external research providers and internal sector teams, as well as utilizing internal publishing tools and CRM systems.

Client Relationship Partner Change (CRP) And Succession Planning Process

  • The role will be involved in the ongoing administration and management of CRP change requests in a timely manner, including the production of client financials, and the preparation of e-mail communications to clear and process the change requests.
  • Assist in administration and management of CRP succession planning in a timely manner, including preparing e-mail communications to senior firm leadership on the roles that need transitioning and the preparation of all relevant financial and relationship information.

Team Administration

  • The role will be involved in the ongoing administration and management of CRP change requests in a timely manner, including the production of client financials, and the preparation of e-mail communications to clear and process the change requests.

The role may need to support other Marketing and Business Development initiatives or tasks essential to the Business Development and Strategy team.

Role Requirements

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent – NQF Level 4
  • Finance or Information Management related tertiary qualification or BCom/BSc/BA degree (or level equivalent) in finance, business administration or informatics. A financial analysis and research analysis focus would be advantageous.
  • Information administration and management related tasks – 1 – 2 years (Required)
  • Business research experience using a range of online databases – 1 – 2 years (Required)
  • Experience in Power BI and advanced Excel tools such as Power Query and Power Pivot – 1 – 2 years (Advantageous)
  • Experience working in an international and global environment where team members are spread across geographies and time zones – 1 – 2 years (Advantageous)

System Skills

  • Microsoft Office (Intermediate)

  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft office: Especially using Excel, including working with Pivot tables, and PowerPoint. (Power BI and VBA experience is not essential but would be an advantage).
  • Skilled in maintaining quality and quantity of output under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Ability to work appropriately with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Can manage a number of tasks simultaneously and works well under pressure.
  • Familiarity with internet based search and other business intelligence tools and databases
  • Business writing.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and able to deal with colleagues at all levels.
  • Commercial awareness

Additional Considerations

  • Applicants must be South African citizens or have a valid South African work permit

Working Hours

  • 9.00am to 17;30, or a shift pattern of 42.5 hours per week, as agreed on an individual basis, but falling between 07:00 and 23:00 SAST, Monday to Friday. It may be required to work overtime from time to time.
